I am so excited that Whine & Wags is almost here!
We start with cocktail hour and the silent auction. When the silent auction closes, dinner is served! --and the fabulous and talented Alisabeth von Presley begins her performance.
It's going to be awesome!
Of course, the goal of the evening is to raise funds to help us provide care for homeless, neglected, and abused animals. So naturally, I'd like to entice you with a few of the live auction items:
- Magical hot air balloon ride over Cedar Rapids
- Twelve-stop tour of world cuisines in the Cedar Rapids area
- Collection of 12 hand-selected wines from around the world
- Technology package that includes a 32GB iPad mini, a Beats by Dre Pill Speaker, and Apple TV
- Personalized day of pampering
- Private patio party with a wine and grilled-pizza tasting for 20
All of these items--and the silent auction items, too-- were donated to us by generous businesses and individuals. We are so honored to have their support!
We are honored to have your support as well! See you Saturday!

Vote for Us!
It's A-List time, and we want to come out on top in two categories: Best Pet Services and Best Pet Supplies! Last year we took First Place in Best Pet Supplies and Third Place in Best Pet Services! (Yup, we had some VERY stiff competition!) But the year before that, we were FIRST Place in BOTH categories. We want to win both categories again, and to do it, we need YOU! Please go to Hoopla/KCRG A-List and place your votes! Don't forget to vote for us in BOTH categories! Every vote counts. Voting ends March 13! |
We Asked, You Answered!
Do you consider yourself a "cat person" or a "dog person"? Or are you, as they say, "bipetual"?
Matt Kraus: Bipetual, but got a great little kitty from you guys and will definitely be back someday for another one!
Cassie Mitvalsky: I have two cats and one puppy. I'm totally a cat person. AND my very favorite pet is my cat I got from you guys. She's the sweetest.
Jessica Mikesell: Lizard person!
Alice Linhart: Bipetual and not afraid to admit it. Two of each.
Karen Thompson Meroshek: Sort of bipetual but mostly dog.
Kayla Carol Kensett: Bipetual, I have a cat, dog and fish.
Nicole Costello: Bipetual...but I can't live without my kitties. My first word was "kitty," and my first tattoo was a cat. I adopted Delmar in 2007 from CVHS.
Chris Pietropinto: Animal person. I've had cats, dogs, frogs, hamsters, a goat; plan to have a snake, mice, and coral. So I just don't think dog, cat, or bipetual covers it.

Volunteer Spotlight: Trevor Penuel
Eighteen-year-old Trevor Penuel has been volunteering with us since November.
He regularly comes to the shelter to socialize cats on the weekends, but he doesn't stop there: Trevor goes above and beyond! He is always extra careful in following instructions and lends a helping hand to staff when needed.
Morris, a handsome adoptable cat, went to his lifelong home while Trevor was volunteering at the shelter. Trevor was very helpful throughout the adoption process-- so much so that the adopter called us with an update on Morris and asked us to extend a big thank you to Trevor!
Trevor, the staff and animals-- especially Morris!-- thank you for being such a valuable volunteer! |
Happy Tail: Dakota is 44-Pound Lap Dog
The pretty pointer mix Dakota has grown from 25 pounds when I brought him home to a 44-pound lap dog.
He is very spoiled with tennis balls and his chew tire. He hardly barks and is always happy to see me and my boyfriend come home.
He has been a wonderful addition to our new home. Thank you for everything!
Brittany C.
Remember, YOU can send us your Happy Tail, too!
