Doing a good turn for animals can be as simple as cleaning out your closet!
If you have extra stuff cluttering up your home, we have the solution! Take your gently used items to the Stuff Etc. near you and consign them to the Cedar Valley Humane Society account. Our animals receive 50% of the proceeds from the sale of your items.
Right now, Stuff Etc. is stocking spring merchandise, like light-colored and light-weight clothing, prom dresses, and items related to upcoming holidays, including Valentine's Day, Easter and St. Patrick's Day.
Furniture, housewares, and home décor are always big sellers and are accepted year round.
There's no appointment necessary, so whenever the urge strikes you to de-clutter... go for it!
On behalf of the animals-

We Asked, You Answered!
Do your pets break the rules (like get up on the couch) when you're not home? How do you know?
Pat Rogers Eckley: Zeus does while we are gone. I can tell because you hear him hop off the couch when he hears the door. He is too funny!
Sarah Elizabeth Angelo-Haight: There are two parts of the house we have gated off so Augie can't get in them: the area with the cat litter boxes and food, and our rec room. So what does our mini dachshund do? Climbs the gates, of course!
Paula Knowles: Most likely...but there aren't many rules here. Main one is the trash...which I find pieces of paper all over...three dogs do make messes! Wish I had a puppy cam some days!
Billie Jo Udorvich-York: Suzi Q gets into the cat feeder! We can always tell by the fishy breath! And the sad eyes and wagging tail when we ask her if she ate the cat's food! GUILTY!
Sara Kerr Nekvinda: We'll be gone at work all day but the couch is surprisingly warm in one spot. LOL
Kari Zitek Ness: They rule the house.... They don't have rules!

Volunteer Spotlight: Adrian and Zayna Evans
Adrian and Zayna Evans, a father-daughter duo, have been volunteering with us since November.
They regularly come to the shelter to walk dogs together. But they don't stop there! They update the animal care staff on the status of the dogs they walk and seem to be very in tune with how the dogs are feeling and behaving. This is very helpful to our staff, so we can give the dogs the care they need and let adopters know more about the animals they're interested in adopting.
On behalf of the animals, thank you, Adrian and Zayna, for all that you do for the Cedar Valley Humane Society! |
Happy Tail: Bristol is a Wonderful Little Sister
We adopted Bristol about one month ago, and she's fit into our big family perfectly.
She's very smart and knows how to fetch, sit, sit pretty, and is working on stay (though staying still is really difficult for her unless she's cuddling with someone). Potty training Bristol was exceptionally easy using praise and treats.
Bristol is a wonderful little sister who loves to play with her big brothers. If she can't find a human lap to sit on, she'll settle for her big brother Bernie's!
Thank you for taking such special care of our girl before she came to her forever home!
John and Angie S.
Remember, YOU can send us your Happy Tail, too!
