Featured Feline:
Aqua

Aqua came to us at the beginning of October. This girl loves to be the center of attention. Aqua is known to be a diva... so she would do best in a home where she is the only pet. She likes to cuddle and would make a great lap cat. Her personality is very laidback and relaxed. Aqua would be a great cat for a family or just someone looking for a diva of their own! This girl is a member of our Lonely Hearts Club, so she can be brought home for only $45. Please come meet Aqua today!

Angel

Angel came to stay with us in the middle of February. She is a belly-rubbin'-lovin' girl! She is very curious of her surroundings always game for exploring. Angel is a very well-behaved kiddo... but just in case she needs a little coaxing, she is always motivated by food. Angel is comfortable around everyone she meets, and she loves attention. She would be a great family dog! Please come meet this sweet little Angel today!

Simply put: Thank you!

The fifth annual Whine & Wags auction was our most successful fundraiser to date. We're very pleased to announce that, with your generosity, more than $40,000 was raised for the animals.

The funds will help us partially cover our costs for spay and neuter surgeries; food and care; diagnostics and special procedures; and vaccines and medical supplies.

As a nonprofit organization, the Cedar Valley Humane Society counts on the support of our community. We could not have had such a wonderful evening for the animals without the individuals and businesses who donated auction items; sponsored the event; and, of course, those who attended and dug deep into their pockets to show some love for the more than 1,500 animals we serve each year.

So I wish to thank everyone who helped make this fundraiser a success. You are the reason we're able to continue to fulfill our mission.

On behalf of the animals-

We Asked, You Answered!

We asked icon
How many times during the night does your pet wake you up? And what does he or she want?

Dawn Townsend: I wake up because I have no room to sleep... the dogs just keep on sleeping as I roll them over to make room. Love my lazy babies!

Bonnie Carter: Never. I actually have to drag Vlad out of bed in the morning!

Ashley Kilpatrick: Usually just once. He wants to get under the covers with me, and he'll bump me with his head until I give in.

Amy Ruff Speed: Anywhere from two to five times a night. He's like a newborn, but he's 13. My favorite is when I let him out on the deck, he barks and wants back in.

Jill R Cram: Adele will tuck me in and then go off to sing her catnip mice and lobster to sleep. When she is sure all her toys have been successfully subdued, she will hop up on the bed and want to get under the covers with me. She's a cuddlebug.

Nicole French: Our two cats usually let me sleep, but wakes my husband up bright and early for their morning feeding. He describes it as being a human trampoline!

Sheryl Rottink: He lets me sleep unless he has to go potty.

Jolene Norton: Our dog paces around the bed (hardwood floor). Don't know why.

Volunteer Spotlight: Kyle Niedert

Kyle Niedert has been volunteering with us since January. He started out through a work program we arranged with Linn Mar High School. hand and pawWhen Kyle's school program ended, he continued on as a permanent volunteer.

Kyle is a happy-go-lucky guy who's always open to performing any task needed during his volunteer shift. Kyle cleans dog kennels and cat condos; he also walks dogs and socializes cats. Everything he does, he does with a smile!

When Kyle found out we were participating in the St. Patrick's Day Parade, there he was... walking, smiling, waving and handing out sweet treats to the thousands of eager, candy-lovin' kids.

Kyle, we appreciate all you do for the animals and our organization. Thank you for making our days a little brighter!

Happy Tail: Zeus is Family's Pride and Joy

I wanted to update you on Zeus!

As you can see, he is one pampered pup! And he loves his belly rubs!

When he went to the vet he had gained two pounds so he is doing awesome!

He is our family's pride and joy! Thank you again for letting me adopt him!
