Featured Feline:
Amy

Amy the cat
Amy came into our care in mid-August. She is a very curious furball with an affectionate personality. Amy would love a spot by your side during your lazy days off. (She is the perfect partner for that!) If you are looking for a family cat, Amy is your girl! She is all love and no fuss and would definitely be a popular addition to any home. Please stop in to meet the amazing Amy!
Compatible Canine:
Duke

Duke the dog
Duke came into our care in late August. He is a laidback, go-with-the-flow kinda guy, but he still has plenty of energy, especially when it comes to chasing tennis balls! (He can fit three in his mouth and tear them all into little pieces in no time flat!) Long walks at the park and chomping on delicious rawhide snacks are also some of his favorite activities. He knows the basics, such as heel, sit, and stay. Duke would make a perfect family dog, but keep in mind that he would do best in a home without cats or small dogs. Duke is one of the most popular dudes at this joint, so we're sure once you met him it would be a done deal! Stop by to meet this awesome boy!

Greetings!

Chuck with Houdini What an amazingly generous community we live in!

Last month, our $30,000 in 30 Days Challenge produced inspiring results, raising more than $36,000!

Now, here we are in October, and we have yet another wonderful announcement to make: Janda Motor Services has offered to match further donations made to the Cedar Valley Humane Society, up to $10,000!

This means that your donation this month is effectively doubled! Your $10 becomes $20... $50 becomes $100... $500 becomes $1,000... until we reach $10,000, which then becomes $20,000!

Please donate today, and help us maximize this match! Janda Motor Services' remarkable gesture of generosity, combined with your generous donations, will help ensure that the Cedar Valley Humane Society is able to continue to help homeless animals in our area.

Thanks for your support this month and beyond.

$30K in 30 Days Challenge Wraps Up

Mimzy We still have a few pledged donations coming in, but other than that, we've wrapped up our $30,000 in 30 Days Challenge!

We're so excited that the community came through in such a big way, with more than $36,000 being donated during the month-long fundraiser.

It can cost between $200 and $300 to take care of an animal during its length of stay. Monies raised will help us purchase food, medical supplies, veterinary care and diagnostics for our animals until we can find them lifelong homes.

We wish we could say that the $36K would last forever. Unfortunately, neglected, sick, abandoned, and abused animals are still coming through our doors. Our mission is to provide care and refuge, but with every wave of animals in need of our help, our need for funding continues.

Please consider making a donation this month--your generous gift will be matched up to 10K by Janda Motor Services!

Dress Up the Doxie! Deck out the Great Dane!

Volunteer Spotlight: Ellen Smith

Bandit Ellen Smith has been a volunteer photographer for us for almost a year. She comes in every Friday to take photos of our adoptable animals--lately it has been mostly dogs. She also has taken photos at events for us!

Ellen loves to come in and visit the animals. She walks dogs and socializes cats, in addition to taking photos.

Recently, she also helped us out by donating several bandannas for the dogs, so there would be a splash of color in their photos. She's handy with a sewing machine, so she finished the hems on several more bandannas and altered some of our colorful blankets to make them "camera-ready" for cat photo sessions.

Thanks, Ellen, for being so versatile and open to pitching in on special projects! It means a lot to have our adoptable animals looking so good!

Happy Tail: Pippin is Best Pet Ever

Pippin Pippin is now three and still with me. (He was called Manny when he lived at the shelter.) He is amazing.

He now has two cat scratchers, his own ottoman (where I put his litter box), his own water fountain, a cat tree, cat grass, and cat shelves. He is spoiled.

I'm even thinking of adopting him a new playmate, since after I moved he lost his. (His buddy belonged to my roommate.) Pippin is the best pet I've ever had. I hope he is with me for a very long time.

Thank you for letting me adopt my little friend.

Remember, YOU can
send us your Happy Tail, too!

Perhaps it is because cats do not live by human patterns, do not fit themselves into prescribed behavior, that they are so united to creative people.
