Featured Feline:
Mittens

Mittens
Mittens came to us at the beginning of January because her owner was allergic to cats. Mittens is very independent and likes to do her own thing. She is quite a calm kitty who chooses sitting on laps over playing or being held. This sweet girl will purr very loudly at the smell of a treat! As a member of our Silver Paws Club, Mittens can be adopted for only $75. She is front-declawed.

Compatible Canine:
Melodie

Melodie
Melodie came back to us at the end of January because she had an unexpected amount of energy! Melodie is a friendly little girl who loves to lean her whole body on you. Her favorite things are tug toys and Nylabones. Her least favorite things are loud noises! Melodie loves to go for walks and play with kids in a fenced-in yard. She gets along well with other dogs, as well as children of all ages. Melodie knows a few commands, but she would benefit from some positive-focused obedience training. Come meet Melodie today and see if she's right for your family!

Greetings!

Chuck and MittensOur animal shelter is a hub of activity every day.

Even in this fast-paced environment, I try to remind people to visit our Second Chance Thrift Store. We have hundreds of great deals on practical items such as clothing, tools, and housewares...and lots of fun items, too, such as books, DVDs, and CDs.

As a music enthusiast, I always find it fascinating to see the number and variety of vinyl record albums people donate. If you're a vinyl aficionado, you can definitely find some real gems at our store!

Perhaps most importantly, when you shop at the Second Chance Thrift Store you are benefiting the very special residents at our shelter, as all the proceeds from sales go directly to helping the animals.

We thank you for your support!

We Asked, You Answered!

We asked icon
What does your pet always stick his or her nose into?

Daniel F. King: On my computer keyboard (to get my attention).

Tim Nash: Laundry basket. She usually comes up with a sock!

Jess A Saurus: My ice water! Their noses and paws in the case of the cat.

Kelly Calkins: In the snow.

Susan Andrews: The toilet if the lid isn't put down.

Kristin Trinidad: In my son's diaper bag. Whenever I'm looking through it, he sticks his nose in too like he's helping. #Mowgli

Volunteer Spotlight: Carl Bromberg

GuinessCarl Bromberg of Visions Photography has stepped wholeheartedly into the role of volunteer shelter animal photographer.

Carl takes stunning photos of our adoptable dogs and cats. He arrives at the shelter every Tuesday like clockwork, always ready to interact with our animals and help them show off their unique personalities. He doesn't stop until he feels like he has captured them perfectly!

Carl's photographs are featured in just about everything that we do, from our website to the donated billboards. We can't thank him enough for volunteering his time and talents to help our organization fulfill its mission.

Happy Tail: Rosie Gets Back to the Dog Routine

Rosie is such a doll! She really is housetrained and at times would Rosierather stay outside.

We are all back to our "dog" routine. Rosie slept all night. She loves her Serta memory foam bed and chewing on dental bones. We quickly learned to keep the doors shut on all the cabinets that have food in them, and we had to move the trash can out to the "freezing" porch... or Rosie would have been in it for sure! She has a lot of spring in her jump. This morning she has already been out four times.

I know Rosie will be my comfort from pain. All of you are special and wonderful for taking such excellent care of animals in need.

Love,

The P. Family

Remember, YOU can
send us your Happy Tail, too!
