RUSHTON FARM PLANT SALE
Spring has sprung and the Rushton Farm Staff are busy planting seeds and tending seedlings. Over 8,000 plants are busy stretching out from the soil while the fields of Rushton Farm begin to green from cover crops planted last fall. Next week our first crop gets planted- our spring peas! Soon enough ground will be turned and our seedlings will make their way from the greenhouse to the field.
In the greenhouse along with our plants for the field are thousands of plants being readied for the annual Rushton Farm Plant Sale. This year the plant sale will take place May 7 and 8 from 10am to 3pm. As always we will have a wide array of vegetable plants and flowers, both annuals and perennials. All plants are grown with the same time and care that our field plants receive so if you want a great start to your garden make sure to get to Rushton Farm on Saturday May 7 and Sunday May 8!

YELLOW SPRINGS CHEESE CSA

For the sixth year we are proud to be partnering with Yellow Spring Springs Farm to serve as a pick up site for their cheese CSA.   Sign up with Yellow Springs for a bi-weekly cheese share and you can conveniently pick it up at Rushton when you pick up your vegetable share. Following is more information on Yellow Springs Cheese CSA.

Yellow Springs Farm proudly offers both fresh and aged Artisanal Goat Cheeses. The most important part of our award winning cheeses is the exceptionally good milk our goats produce. We breed and raise Nubian goats, with occasional genetic crosses, carefully selected for their naturally nutrient rich milk. Our herd browses pasture, cleans up invasive plant species in the woodland, and basks in the sun. Our goats also eat local hay and grains. We do not use hormones or antibiotics in the dairy herd. Al and Catherine Renzi make Yellow Springs Farm cheeses using age-old processes borrowed from both French and Italian traditions. Our original interpretation of these recipes and inclusion of farm-raised herbs, nuts, and honey make many unique Yellow Springs Farm Goat Cheeses. Each small batch is handmade, and never includes preservatives or anything artificial. We use only vegetable rennet and sea salt. We love to select palette-pleasing trends to pair with local, fresh foods. There is always a new cheese to try. CSA members receive email newsletters with tasting and cheese pairing notes so that you can enjoy all the good flavors of Yellow Springs Farm.

WHAT DO YOU GET? Yellow Springs Farm members will receive a cheese share two times per month, 13 pickups for 2016. Each Regular Share is usually 3 varieties of Yellow Springs Farm cheeses totaling about 12 oz. PLUS Share includes 4 cheese portions totaling about 16 oz. PLUS Share is perfect for split shares and larger households. Everything But Chevre includes 2 cheeses - about 6 oz. each! Members also have unique opportunities to try new products and place special orders for extra cheese. Some CSA cheeses are exclusive varieties only for members.

CHEESE PICK UP Cheese shares will be delivered every two weeks. If you will miss a pickup, please ask a friend or relative to come in your place. CSA membership is similar to theater or music subscriptions-if you miss a "performance," you forfeit cheese for that week. That said, if you contact YSF or your pickup site with a special schedule need for a given week, we will try to accommodate you. Each pickup site disposes of unclaimed cheese on Saturdays-it is perishable, and we need room for the next week's orders.
