Tuesday pick up is being moved to next Tuesday, November 6. Friday will pick up as usual.
Well, it looks like the 2012 CSA season is going to end with hurricane Sandy determining our final harvest list.
With all the wind, water and washout expected we will have to see what the fields will have left for us. We have plenty of butternut squash and sweet potatoes in storage and the root vegetables (carrots- possibly beets) should do well in their sub-soil hideouts. The leeks seemed happy waving in the wind from their deeply rooted homes so i expect them to weather out the storm as well. What the rest of the harvest will bring is up to Sandy.
Due to the weather the rushton farm staff has decided to move this Tuesday's pick up to next Tuesday. This was the final week of pickups, so we are going to extend Tuesday shareholders by a week. Friday's last pick up will be this week.
This is not the end of the season! We will be having a Thanksgiving pick up that will include winter squash, sweet potatoes and leeks. Look for information on this pick up in next week's Wild Carrot.
Batten down the hatches and stay safe. We will see you when the wind and water subside and the sun breaks away the gloom.
