I want to thank all of you who came out to enjoy the fifth annual Harvest Celebration on Saturday night, and special thanks to sponsors Sharon Wible, Liz & Peter Strawbridge, and Ann Pension Rogers. With the autumn sun lighting up the brilliant array of fall colors at Rushton Farm the setting could not have been better. The weather was perfect and the chill that set in at dusk reminded us that the season's harvest is almost over.
We are down to the last two pickups with the season ending on November 2nd. We will be offering a special one day "Thanksgiving Share" pick up the week of November 12th which we will give you further information on later.
Next week we will be sending out a survey which we hope our members will fill out so we can continue to improve next season.
We will also be sending out 2013 membership information for next season.
But wait! There will be one more event this fall for CSA members. On Sunday, November 11th and Monday, November 12th we will be having a Rushton Farm CSA Owl Banding event at the farm.
The WCT Bird Conservation Program has been banding Northern Saw-whet owls for the past three years to study the migration ecology of these beautiful little raptors. We will have the opportunity to join Program Director Lisa Kiziuk and her banding team as they catch, band and release our feathered friends. Banding will take place from 7 to 11pm Sunday, November 11th and Monday, November 12th, and children are welcome. Space is limited to 30 members each night so reserve your spot as soon as possible by emailing Lisa at lkr@wctrust.org
