Global Politics and Money:
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

After one of the best global stock market rallies in decades, the rest of 2014 will be a gunfight for central banks and politicians. Audiences need to know who will be the good, the bad and the ugly in 2015. Which central banks will be quick on the draw and which ones will be slow to act? Will the gunslinger Putin create a showdown in geopolitics that leads to an economic shootout? What politicians will be "All hat and no cattle" as they face voters? With over 30 years of experience at the crossroads of politics and money, Andy Busch brings a unique, multi-media approach to make sure audiences understand and help them avoid "squattin' with their spurs on." Busch explains how to ride the investing and electing herd and not be trampled by it.

PART 2: Correlating Laboratory Weathering to Outdoor Exposures of FIBC Materials

Mr. Quill will be returning to present the UV study tensile data and address the controversy over the ISO 21898 UV test duration (200 Hr. vs. 300 Hr.)

Durability of flexible intermediate bulk containers is subject to many factors, one of which is outdoor exposure. Sunlight, heat, and moisture degrade virtually all materials. One question is how much does the performance of FIBC products decrease over time as a result of these natural forces. ISO 21898 exists to ensure a minimum standard of performance of FIBC products in the marketplace, and this standard includes a UV resistance test to ensure that sunlight doesn't cause premature failures of FIBCs. A second question is whether the requirements of this standard adequately address the durability concerns of products used outdoors and subject to the degrading forces of sunlight, heat, and moisture.

In this study, Q-Lab exposed commercially available FIBC products and similar materials outdoors in south Florida and Arizona. Tensile strength of these materials was tested after several exposure periods, generating time versus degradation curves for each material.  These same materials underwent several laboratory weathering tests, including the fluorescent UV test given in ISO 21898, an alternative fluorescent UV cycle, two xenon arc cycles, and Q-TRAC concentrating sunlight testers. By completing identical tensile strength testing of the laboratory weathered materials, the relationship between natural weathering exposures and laboratory methods was ascertained. Data for these studies will be presented.
