We are working with IFT to ensure that the IFT brand is experienced at all levels and across all touch points of our organization. Whether your experience is at the global level or the local level here in the Chicago area, our goal is to deliver a globally consistent and locally relevant experience for our collective members.

October Dinner Meeting & Discussion Recap
|
|
The October Student Night Dinner Meeting of the Chicago Section IFT was a wonderful success. The Section had 176 people attend - a record number for the Chicago Section IFT Student Night event!
Approximately 60 students attended, where they had a tour, lecture and lunch at McDonald's University, followed by a resume building workshop and a speed networking session.
Many people contributed which made this event a success. A sincere thank you to the efforts of the Chicago Section IFT House and Hospitality Committees, Dempsey Corporation as our dinner meeting sponsor, McDonald's and the companies that generously donated their products to fill gift bags for the students.Read full article
The evening concluded with a marvelous talk by Russell K. Moroz, Vice President Research Development & Quality Kraft Foods, as our guest speaker. The 10 things Russ wished that he knew when beginning his career:
0. Be good at what you do.
1. Don't be afraid to speak before you know you are right.
2. Have an agenda.
3. Build coalitions
4. Results don't speak for themselves
5. Surround yourself with great people
6. Expect what's possible...plus a little more.
7. Give more than you take.
8. Mentees attract mentors.
9. Behavior change is the best way to grow.
10. Learn from your experiences
11. (Bonus). My mother was right.

| Thanks to all who helped make Student Night a Success! |
| |
Under the guidance of the CSIFT Hospitality Committee, this year's Student Night was a grand success. The Committee worked hard to both plan and attend the event which was moved from March to October.
Thanks to the Hospitality Committee for their efforts: Ann Johnson, Marie Loewen, Travis Miller, Porter Myrick, Laura Saran, and Committee Chair Keith Schafer. In addition to the Hospitality Committee CSIFT had over 35 volunteers who assisted with the networking and resume building activities. The students were fortunate to have 1 volunteer for every 2 students! The Hospitality Committee thanks all of these volunteers! Approximately 60 students from Illinois Institute of Technology, Dominican University, the University of Illinois, and Purdue attended the event that began with a tour, presentations, and lunch at McDonald's Hamburger University.
