Greetings from Camp Echo
Camp Echo Summer 2015 is coming to a close. Labor Day Weekend Family Camp and two Echo Extravaganza weekends in September followed by our October Adult Work Weekend will finish out what has been an impactful and life-changing summer for over 1800 campers and staff.
Highlights of Summer 2015 have included a full camp, all programs, all sessions. We know that in order to serve every kid who wants to come to camp we need to improve our facilities and expand our capacity. Healthy and delicious food was prepared by our fantastic Food Services Director, Laurie Marshall, and her amazing kitchen crew. We were able to expand our selections of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options to better meet the needs of our campers and staff.
We were able to improve and increase the number of program options for campers with a new Archery Pavilion and Stand Up Paddle Boards at Boating and Canoeing. Campers and staff were safe, healthy, and happy thanks to our crew of health officers and head counselors. Our cabin staff and program staff were outstanding role models and our campers made new friends, built relationships, and felt a sense of belonging and achievement. It was a great summer.
We have so much to celebrate and so much work to do to continue meeting and exceeding our goals.
Together we are so much more.

Did These Guys Teach You to Ski At Echo ?
Pete Frankel and Chris Coker spent most of the 1980s heading up our water ski area. Now they want to challenge you to make a donation toward a new ski boat and skiing area upgrades at camp.
Pete and Chris have promised to match your gift up to $10,000.
Camp Echo has recently purchased a Gecco GTR 22 which will go in the water for Labor Day Weekend Family Camp. Your contributions will help us to purchase boat lifts and new piers to ensure that our investments last as long as possible. To make a donation, follow the link to the Camp Echo Capital Building Fund. Note Ski Boat in the Message section.

Thanks so much, Frankels and Cokers

Feel the Impact and the Spirit 2015 |
Maeve Waugh, daughter of alum, Jules Riley Waugh, writes about her Camp Echo summer
Maeve is already back in school in Hong Kong. She was asked to write about a time this summer when she felt in touch with her spiritual nature. This is what she wrote:
I remember one special night in summer camp at YMCA Camp Echo. It was the closing campfire, the whole camp crowded around a large campfire in a small amphitheater. The stars peeked through clouds above and a half moon shone atop the many blue faces, including mine and my cabin's. To so many people who had created so many memories here, this was their home.
This is my home.
Living abroad, I had never knew that this was my true home until I came here for the first time. Now my second year, two weeks of happy memories and true acceptance had come to a tearful end.

Camper Cabin Interior Improvements: |
We are totally updating and upgrading the interiors of our camper cabins. So far we have completed three of the cabins on the hill: Fremont, Dugdale, and Featherstone Lodges were completed in time for campers this spring. You can help us upgrade the next fifteen cabins by adopting a cabin and funding the improvements. Cabins can be adopted by individuals, families, alumni groups, anyone can band together to improve these cabins. Your support will ensure the well being of campers and staff for years and years to come! Let us know if you would like to help finance the upgrade for your favorite cabin. Contact Katie Trippi.
Interior improvements include:
- light colored epoxy coating on floors
- reconstructed wooden bunks and cubbies
- recessed ceiling lighting
- new windows and doors
- electric heaters with digital fire flames
- natural wood fireplace mantels
- expanded front porches
