Pack the Pantry - Thank you!
|
A big THANK YOU to all members who volunteered to support out 2015 SAR Pack the Pantry Food Drive event last week! Our teams had lots of fun at all area Albertsons stores. Food and cash donations are being counted now - including an entire semi-truck full of donated food and a cash donation from Albertsons for $2,500 (photo above). Look for totals to be shared soon here in the Weekly Notices. The SAR received two photos from members participating in this year's food drive. We share them here (photos above) as samples of the good work all of our members did to support the association's Pack the Pantry event this year. Left photo: Sean Berry with EXIT Realty and Stephanie Loman with First American Title pictured at 57th and Regal Albertsons. Right photo: Kara Siemens from Windermere City Group and Klaire Powers from First American Title pictured at Wandermere Albertsons. It's not too late to make a financial contribution and be counted in this year's event. Just click on the GO button below to visit our Crowdrise fundraising site. Remember, for every $1 donated, 2nd Harvest provides six pounds of food - the equivalent of 5 meals for hungry people. The gift of food changes lives and gives people an opportunity to succeed and thrive right here in our community. Thank you for your donation! Donate online now!

Understanding Crime and Criminals
|
RE Technology returns this week with the second in its series of articles on REALTOR® safety: understanding crime and criminals.
Criminology is an enormous sociological discipline and the information included in this article will not make you an expert criminologist. However, the purpose of this post is to give you basic information about the criminals and crimes you are most likely to encounter as a real estate agent.
Understanding crime and criminals will help you be more effective in deterring criminals from targeting you, as well as making safer decisions should you ever find yourself the target of an attempted crime.

National Association of REALTORS® 2015 President Chris Polychron (pictured at left) testified, last week, on Capitol Hill that government approval of the commercial use of drones will be a big boon for real estate and other industries and should be made a legislative priority.
NAR has cautioned its members against using drones until the Federal Aviation Administration issues its long-awaited final guidelines on flight permissions. Read more about President Polychron's testimony in REALTOR® magazine, online here.

You Be The Judge - September

Here is You Be The Judge for September:
Case #1-10: Obligations Under Exclusive Listing
Those who decide correctly will be entered in a drawing for a Starbucks coffee card!
Winner to be announced next month.
Congratulations to Mary Guderjohn, Exit Real Estate North, our July/August Starbucks card winner!
JULY/AUGUST ANSWER:
The Hearing Panel disagreed with Seller S's contentions. It noted that while REALTORS® do, in fact, have an obligation to preserve confidential information gained in the course of any relationship with the client, Standard of Practice 1-9 specifically provides that latent material defects are not considered "confidential information" under the Code of Ethics. Consequently, REALTOR® A's disclosure did not violate Article 1 of the Code of Ethics.
