Nationwide Broker Data Entry System

The NAR Board of Directors at its 2015 meeting May 16 in Washington, D.C., approved a partnership between NAR and its wholly owned subsidiary Realtors Property Resource® and another company, UpStream RE, LLC, to create a data entry and collection system for the brokerage community using the RPR® advanced Multi-list platform (AMP™).

The system will give brokerages a single place to input their listing data for distribution on multiple platforms online, including Realtor.com, local MLSs, and broker websites.

SAR Closed Monday for Memorial Day

Your SAR will be closed Monday, May 25th, to keep the Memorial Day holiday.

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States for remembering the people who died while serving in the country's armed forces.

Fairmount Memorial Association, through its Heritage Funeral Home, has three days of free events planned for this weekend, including musical concerts, car shows, history displays and complimentary refreshments.

See a complete list of their activities online here.

Crime Prevention Alert

The Spokane County Sheriff's Crime Prevention Unit has received numerous complaints about people going door-to-door in Spokane, using aggressive sales tactics, trying to get homeowners to list their homes through a company called Exceed.

There is an Agent Alert about this on the Spokane MLS.

If any of your clients approach you about this, you may invite them to file a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General's office or our local Better Business Bureau.

Small Business Survey

The economy is gaining momentum and we are starting to see optimism rise among small businesses.

Now in its sixth year, the U.S. Bank Annual Small Business Survey measured the opinions of more than 3,000 small business owners who shared their views on the state of the national and their local economy today, general business conditions and challenges, and their outlook for 2016.

This year the results show small business owners are more confident about the future of their businesses now than at any time in the six year history of the survey.

Optimism is on the rise, businesses are healthier, and they may be on the verge of taking action to expand; however, few are actually seeking credit to do it.

APRIL ANSWER
The Hearing Panel pointed out that brokers have no hesitation in advising clients that properties are overpriced when this is the case, and they are obligated to be equally candid in providing their best judgment to clients when properties being offered for sale are obviously underpriced.

The panel concluded that in view of the wide discrepancy between the owner's asking price and the property's market value, which REALTOR® B conceded was apparent to him, it was REALTOR® B's obligation as an agent to advise his client that the house was worth considerably more, especially since it was apparent that Client A had been away from the community for years and was out of touch with local values. The Hearing Panel found REALTOR® B in violation of Article 1.
