Friends and Members,

Today we have two new videos focused on very different things.

Key points in video number 1:
How to engage the hind leg, what does it really look like and how to obtain the engagement. Getting your horse to seek the contact rather than backing off it or evading the contact.

Key points in video number 2: Getting true rhythm, relaxation to then focus on getting a good gait. Going from an unbalanced, hollow, no contact, fast trot across the diagonal to a connected, rhythmic, lovely lengthening.

New Video Releases
Dr. Ulf Moller works again with this beautiful five year old on creating and keeping the contact.  There is also invaluable coaching on riding better corners, collection, and the use of the aids for collection.

 with Dr. Ulf Moller, GER

Part 1:  Dr. Moller begins this session by emphasizing that you are riding from the moment you get on.  He gives a very clear explanation of how to ride a corner as well as how to straighten after the corner accurately with the shoulders in the correct place. He has them practice many turns and changes of direction.

Part 2:  They go to the canter, and Dr. Moller has them think about their corners with the hindquarters following the front legs. He asks that the inside hind reach forward one hoofprint more. As they ride the corners and think about the hind legs, the neck becomes better.  The counter canter is a bit quick, and he asks a for an easier pace without being over bent.

Part 3:  Dr. Moller encourages the rider to be very quiet with the hands.  They work on keeping the contact through transitions and within the gait.  With assistance from the ground, they use a smaller circle to collect the canter.

Part 4:  They continue the work on the circle, getting more activity behind with help from the ground while the rider concentrates on the contact.  When the horse gets running a bit, Dr. Moller has great advice for containing this.  He challenges her to collect the horse using her seat.

Part 5:  The horse tries to reject the contact, and Dr. Moller helps her work through this issue.

Have you struggled with establishing connection with your horse?
Daniel Dockx brings us the second lesson with a pair with his issue, and through his talented instruction, we get to see the great results that can be achieved.

Part 1:  Cesar Torrente judges First Level, Test 1, scoring each movement as it is ridden.  He reviews the ride with her, and they work through the issues presented durning the test.  The first suggestion is to add activity.

Part 2:  Mr. Torrente gives helpful advice for the first center line and salute.  As they move into the trot he asks that the mare be responsive and ridden forward into the walk transition. He points out that doing frequent transitions will help her learn to collect, and that it's essential to use the corners. They concentrate on the trot walk trot transitions, asking for them to be forward and prompt.

Part 3:  When they change rein and lengthen the stride in the trot, the mare is more forward and the trot improves.  They ask her to promptly respond to the leg aids, and their next lengthening is even better.  Mr. Torrente next has them do transitions within the canter, lengthening and collecting.

Part 4:  Cesar now has them ride the test again now that the mare is really moving forward.  As he coaches her through the test, we have an excellent opportunity to see how much better a test can be by making this fundamental change.  They work through the transition from the walk to trot after the free walk to get a smooth transition.  The next canter depart is prompt and accurate and the lengthening more pronounced. The entire test shows great improvement.
