Friends and Members,

I'm very excited to bring you our newest permanently featured trainer, Daniel Martin Dockx who rides for the Spanish team. His biography and accomplishments speak for themselves but his style of training is incredibly effective and will resonate within your mind for always.

Daniel works with PRE's in this clinic setting, which was generously sponsored by the USPRE Association,  but the work can be applied to any breed. Dani is detailed and emphatic and as you watch his videos you will see certain themes prevail with many riders and many different horses. I like this as it as it stays in the mind of the viewer, the important points one must always remember and think about, that are consistently applicable, no matter who you are or what you ride

Join Dani Dockx for great insights on keeping your horse forward and responsive to the aids.  There is excellent work on the accuracy of the half pass and the necessary elements for the passage.

 with Dani Dockx, ESP

Part 1:  Dani Dockx conducts a lesson with a Lusitano stallion competing at I1 beginning with a lovely forward trot.  He asks for the canter to go forward and collect, go forward and collect while keeping the contact.  The medium canter is conservative, so they work on making it bigger.

Part 2:  They continue in the canter with working for more forward gaits. After a walk break they move on to the sitting trot with a bigger step.  When asking for the medium trot, Dani has them look for the neck to be more down.  They do the trot half pass from centerline.

Part 3:  They return to the canter, and when the haunches fall to the inside, Dani asks for them to do the shoulder in.  The flying change on the long diagonal is forward and clean, and they go on to the canter half pass to the flying change.  Dani gives the rider great tips on the geometry of performing the half pass from the center line.

Part 4:  When they work on the changes on the long diagonal, Dani requires that he make them on the stride he's asked, not a stride later.  The extended canter proves difficult, with a flying change sometimes happening when the rider asks for more forward movement.  Dani asks that the horse be more in front of her leg.

Part 5: Dani talks about the issue of being behind the leg and how a good reaction to the aids is necessary to good riding.  They move on to the passage with assistance from the ground.

Part 6:  The passage work continues, with an explanation of making sure the horse keeps moving from behind and how it relates to being behind the leg.  Watch this intriguing segment to see them work through this issue and show some great passage steps.

Dani Dockx, a new trainer to DressageTrainingOnline.com, brings us the first in a series of clinic lessons, this time working with a Training level PRE horse on the fundamentals of stretching and a longer frame.  Watch this intriguing video to see the effect of proper stretching as the basis for better gaits.

with Dani Dockx, ESP

Part 1:  We join this pair at the canter in their warm up, and Dani is asking the rider to make the step bigger, thinking of the medium.  Opening the neck and allowing the stretch adds length to the step.  They work transitions within the trot and canter.

Part 2:  Mr. Dockx asks for the extended trot with bend to keep the contact, and they continue with transitions within the trot.  They add stretching forward and down with a longer neck in both the trot and canter.

Part 3:  Dani explains that the next step in the training should be to stretch over his topline and offers suggestions on how to attain that. Coming out of the walk break, they work on asking him to open his neck and go with his nose on the ground.  In the canter they go for an extended canter, encouraging him to be more under from behind.  They ask for more contact on the reins with inside rein while maintaining the stretching frame.

Part 4:  The trot begins more free with a bigger step, and the canter also improves. Dani encourages a softer hand, and the stretch and length of stride improves.
