Friends and Members,

Today I share with you, me! For years I have teetered on whether to do this or not. I was fearful that people would judge me or be disappointed that I wasn't a better rider. The reality is, I am just a normal, amateur rider. I have always represented myself as this, however, I still had a belief that others might think I should be better, being the founder of DressageTrainingOnline.com and all. In my youth, growing up with horses, I rode purely western. It wasn't until 9 years ago that I decided to ride again, because I missed that part of my life so much, that I started riding Dressage. Thus, I was instantly hooked, it became my ultimate passion, the evolution took place.

The first video release is me working with Alfredo Hernandez, piaffe/passage specialist. Alfredo works with the top riders all over the world! The absolute biggest names and here he is working with me! Hopefully this makes YOU less fearful to ride with top clinicians, whom you might think your not good enough to ride in front of. This video in particular was taken 2 years ago, on my then 6 year old Hanoverian gelding. We have made so much progress and I'm excited to have finally made the decision to put it out there. Stay tuned as I proceed to put even older video up (scary) and newer (inspiring). In this super educational video, you will see typical evasions and how to deal with them which is a necessary tool that we need to stick in our tool boxes.

The second video is focused on dealing with a young horse who shy's. This is a problem many deal with of horses of all ages and all types of situations. Dr. Moller guides the rider on working through this issue.

Watch this fascinating video to see Alfredo Hernandez
work through the beginning of training for the piaffe and passage.  While not everything goes perfectly, this video provides an excellent opportunity to see how to handle the challenges that arise during introducing the piaffe and passage.

 with Alfredo Hernandez, USA

Alfredo

Part 1:  Alfredo explains that the rider has provided a good base to work from by doing the half steps and then walking rather than trotting. They use the side rail of the fence to begin the piaffe walk with assistance from Alfredo on the ground.  When the horse is unsure of this, Alfredo helps her work through the resistance while keeping the contact.  They ask for relaxation as the horse figures out what is being asked of him.

Part 2:  They intersperse short sessions of working with assistance from the ground with a free walk to keep the horse relaxed.  Alfredo shows great patience in introducing this work to him. There is a wonderful discussion about their success and the approach Alfredo uses to train these movements.

Part 3:  They work the movement again with assistance from the ground while asking for more of a frame, and the horse shows some resistance and tension to this new request. They patiently wait for him to work through it without dropping the contact and are rewarded with the best steps of the day.

Dr. Ulf Moller has the opportunity to help this rider through a problem we all face- shying.  Watch this video for great how to information on riding through this issue.

with Dr. Ulf Moller, GER

UlfBigger

Part 1:  Dr. Moller talks about the warm up with this four year old and when it's a good idea to trot earlier in the warm up. He gives great instruction on working when the horse is shying a bit by using the bend and asking for acceptance of the inside leg.

Part 2:  They work getting him forward in front of the leg, keeping the contact and asking for more forward when he slows down. They continue to ask him to work in the sitting trot until he goes past the shy, and then ask him to maintain the rhythm.

Part 3: As he relaxes and becomes more rideable, they move on to the canter in both directions. During the walk break, Dr. Moller requests that the rider maintain a light connection and straightness down the centerline.

Part 4:  When the horse raises his head, Dr. Moller asks that the rider not over react.  They then work the three loop serpentine in both directions while preparing for the areas of the arena that the horse has been shying.  Dr. Moller emphasizes the use of the inside leg for bend.  He explains the steps to take in his training including the importance of the walk break between training sessions.  They finish the session with canter in both directions.
