I'm really excited about one of our newest featured trainers, Nicole Weinauge of Germany. She is not an Olympic gold medalist, she is not a widely recognized master, but she a teacher under the guidance of Phillipe Karl and The School of Légèreté, "lightness". It is based on the teachings of the old masters, such as Xenophon, Pluvinel, La Guérinière, Hünersdorf, Frh. von Sind, Baucher, L'Hotte, Faverot de Kerbrech, Beudant, Oliviera and others.

These are items you can apply in your ride tomorrow, these exercises and explanation will surely give you much to think about. Sit down, sit back and enjoy!

What a great opportunity to see Axel Steiner work with a talented horse and skilled rider as they work at Fourth Level! There are excellent examples of how to school the pirouettes, both at the walk and canter, and help with the single changes. Fourth Level 2 is ridden as Mr. Steiner gives commentary and suggestions for a better test.

Nicole Weinauge brings a progressive training session with excellent exercises to create a supple, balanced, and straight horse. Join her for instruction on introducing the double bridle, and particular tips for the baroque horse. Nicole Weinauge-GER

Part 1: Ms. Weinauge brings us an eight year old Andalusian gelding to demonstrate introducing the double bridle with ground work first. She works the snaffle to ensure there is flexion in both directions and that he is seeking the bit when she releases. She gives an excellent demonstration of working the curb, and how to hold and use the reins for ground work to use the bit positively and encourage the horse to take contact.
Part 2: Once mounted, Nicole checks his response to the snaffle, repeating the exercises done on the ground. When the gelding does not give the desired neck extension on the snaffle, she demonstrates how to add the curb. She begins the warm up in the neutral position, paying attention to the balance, jaw mobility and the lateral balance. She offers great advice for training the baroque horse. They move into lateral work at the walk.
Part 3: Nicole demonstrates the use of lateral movements to achieve straightness and how to refine these movements to issues for a particular horse. They go to the trot, and she uses counter flexion to rebalance the horse.
Part 4: In canter the same principles apply as she checks the balance and straightness of the horse and uses the counter bend to correct issues. They continue with the counter canter, and she offers more exercises to increase straightness in preparation for more collection.
Part 5: Nicole uses the renvers at the trot to activate the hind leg and repeat the exercise to the left. She asks for neck extension without the poll getting too low. The exercise is now worked in the canter, and when he anticipates the changes, she suggests varying the program from day to day.
Part 6: As she moves on to the transitions, she evaluates the balance, and adds the rein back to rebalance to the hind legs. She does transitions on the second track to check for straightness and offers exercises to use if problems arise. When the halts happen on the second track, she increases the difficulty by asking for them on the center line.

This is a favorite and one I have watched many times over in addition to having recommended to others many hundreds of times. Expression, self carriage, lightness and expression (I know I already said that). Catherine shows you how to get that activity we strive for to make our horses really bring out their brilliance. This is also how you get that "fancier" trot, that extra activity how we turns those 7's into 8's!
