Friends and Members,

We have begun to regroup from exhibiting in the Eastern United States. Great show, great people, tons of member feedback. One of our loyal members was in the booth chatting and proceeded to sell 4 memberships for us in a matter of about 14 minutes, just off of her unsolicited discussion with others that had questions about what we offer. This was so powerful and relevant and true and it reminded me of why I do this. For many, this product gives them what they cannot get otherwise; top training, on the subjects THEY want to focus on, when THEY have the time to sit down and tune in.

Above is a picture of our newest employee, her name is Jamille (don't ask) and she will be available for on-line chat and will be touring with us around the world. She is wonderfully behaved, quiet and drama free. We love Jamille!

On DressageTrainingOnline.com, you may select from nearly 1300 hundred training videos - all available with just a few simple mouse clicks! On demand and streamed to your computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone.

Mr. Steiner brings us a great lesson showing the importance of our horses being free in the back.  Throughout this video he encourages this upper level gelding to stretch, resulting in freer and purer gaits and more jump in the changes.

ax

Part 1:  Mr. Steiner watches the warm up of this impressive gelding, and determines that the first step should be to work on stretching and releasing the back behind the saddle. They show a great example of the gymnastic benefit of this stretching.

Part 2:   By working trot walk trot transitions they encourage the horse to push from behind and improve the walk rhythm in the process.  They repeat the exercise in the canter, asking him to stretch down, and using down transitions to the trot in the same frame to loosen his back.  In the walk they interrupt his pacey walk by pushing him out of his comfort zone.

Part 3:  The trot has shown great improvement.  They move on to a clean three beat canter and then collection using only the seat, and from that develop the working canter pirouette.  They go to the right and repeat the canter pirouette exercise while asking him to carry himself.

Part 4:   The single changes show good jump through, and they move on to the twos.  There is a loss of balance in the ones, so they return to the twos.

Join Christoph Hess in this fundamental lesson on responsiveness with a beautiful pony and rider.  He provides excellent instruction on creating forward, powerful transitions and responsiveness to the inside leg.

Christoph Hess

Part 1:  Mr. Hess begins by asking this pony to be quicker in the walk while riding on the snaffle rather than the curb rein.  They work on making her more responsive in the up transitions.  When they increase the flexion, it must come from the inside leg and not just the inside rein. The walk pirouette is used to get her more responsive to the leg.

Part 2:  The whip is added to make the up transitions sharper, and Mr. Hess asks for the down transitions to happen without the rein. In the canter he asks that the mare be more forward and open in her body.

Part 3:  When they go to the leg yield on the circle Mr. Hess asks for more response, moving off the inside leg

Part 4: The challenge is increased as they continue with the leg yield on the circle at the trot.  Mr. Hess stresses the use of the inside leg.  They then go to shoulder in on the long sides.

I re-watched this a hundred times while it played at the recent show we exhibited at. Jan does a spectacular job explaining exactly where the front end and exactly where the hind feet need to land to achieve straightness. He gives you a super exercise to use to help achieve straightness and it is easily replicable on any horse at any age or level. Little tip, watch the counter flexion he uses to better move the shoulders over and put that front end where he wants it. Be sure to save this one to your favorites, click the red star
