Pictured right is Rafael Soto, myself and my very dear friend, Jan Bemelmans at the WEG 2010. I thought it timely to show with the new addition of Juan Munoz to our permanent lineup. The performance in the Freestyle of Juan and Fuego, rocked the house and literally brought tears to my eyes. The harmony, lightness and beauty were everything this sport should be. Rafael and Jan are Juan's' coaches and it is Jan who afforded me the opportunity to watch and capture training over the years with Juan. You can see Juan train with Jan in Spain and in Germany, it's quite remarkable to watch the videos of Fuego developing over the years. We are pleased to have this amazing group of individuals, WELCOME Juan!

Juan Manuel Munoz Diaz, rider of the PRE stallion, Fuego XII, at the 2012 Olympics for Spain, conducts a wonderful lesson showing the importance of connection.  The video includes insightful examples of how the correct connection improves the movements.  He gives a great exercise for training the flying changes on this talented Intermediare Rheinlander.

Part 1: This beautiful twelve year old Rheinlander begins with an exemplary extended walk.  As they begin the trot Juan asks for a lower neck.  During the warm up he asks to maintain the contact, and they work on transitions within the gait and the shoulder in at the trot.

Part 2: This segment begins with the half pass by asking for inside bending first.  They show an amazing gymnastic renvers and then go on to work the piaffe and passage.

Part 3: The horse shows a great collected canter before the half pass.  They work on the connection with a soft contact, in front of the leg, with the ability to change the flexion.  They conclude with flying changes, using the small circle to set up the proper contact.  Juan asks for changes on a large circle to keep them calm and collected.

What is cool about this video is that you can see easily Adrienne execute Debbie's request to activate the hind end by the use of a certain aid. The horse is brilliant yet slightly slow to react. To get him more reactive becomes key to getting the activity and making the movements and gaits more true to what is desired. Great video for amateurs at ANY LEVEL and professionals, as there are some nice exercises to pull from and add to your toolbox.
