August 24, 2013

Greetings!

A new school year brings new opportunities as we strive to share the message of justice. On this day when we remember the dream of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., may we share his wisdom and passion with all we encounter. May God guide us all in the ways of peace!

Two pertinent Labor Day resources highlight this month's posting. Our lesson plan looks at income inequality and the minimum wage. We're also blessed to share a prayer by Fr. Clete Kiley, a labor priest.

Our film discussion guide for the hit film "The Butler" explores its emphasis on civil rights and human dignity. Two other new resources support September commemorations of things we sometimes take for granted - the challenge of the U.S. Constitution and the blessings of grandparents.

We return to twice monthly postings in September. Please contact us if we can be of further service. If you are not already a member, please join us now! If you have let your membership lapse, please renew now!

Labor Day Prayer: We Will Not Be Silent

Prayer

Fr. Clete Kiley's prayer provides a call for a new social contract and a challenge to support the rights of workers. We share it on Labor Day 2013.
