screening of Iron Jawed Angels  inspires

Iron Jawed Angels depicts the sometimes violent journey of Alice Paul and the National Women's Party (NWP) as they led the effort that helped women gain the right to vote.  Women went to great lengths, including a hunger strike while in prison.  A particularity hard to watch scene highlighted the true events of Alice being force-fed raw eggs. About 30 women from the Hartford area attended a free screening of the film at YWCA Hartford Region.

The film left many attendees inspired and grateful for the women who sacrificed part of there lives so that we would have the right to vote.

Iron Jawed Angels was the first in a series of four free film screenings to be shown at various locations in Hartford during February and March in support of Girlcott. Girlcott is a movement to raise awareness about the representation of women in the media and the pressures women face to look a certain way.
