WELCOME JEFFREY DOLLINGER

Dear Art in Action Community: Jeffrey Dollinger

On behalf of the Executive Board and the staff at Art in Action, I want to extend an enthusiastic welcome to Jeffrey Dollinger as our new Executive Director. Jeffrey comes to us from Los Angeles where he most recently was Senior Vice President of Program Development for Invent Now, a national organization whose mission is to inspire invention and creativity in people of all ages. During his sixteen-year tenure at Invent Now, Jeffrey was engaged in designing, funding, and running programs for kids, college students, and inventors of all ages. These programs included the Collegiate Inventors Competition, Inspiring Invention - a national Ad Council PSA campaign, media partnerships with Forbes and the History Channel, and numerous large corporate and foundation grants and sponsorships. Jeffrey also helped grow the organization's elementary educational outreach program, Camp Invention, in California and nationwide. Prior to that, Jeffrey worked in development at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum where he helped raise funds for the final phase of the Museum's capital campaign and developed strategies for raising operating and programmatic support.

Jeffrey holds a Bachelor's degree in Art History from the Ohio State University and a Masters in Arts Administration from Indiana University. Jeffrey and his 10-year-old son, Simon, will be relocating to the Bay Area. We will be offering news and events over the coming months for you to get to know Jeffrey. We thank you for your continued support. Best wishes for a wonderful 2013!

TRANSFORM YOUR SCHOOL: DISPLAY ART!

When children see their art displayed publicly, they smile. And smiles bring joy to a school. Students feel pride in their artwork and creativity. Excitement carries with them all day, inspiring their efforts in all subjects and transforming their learning. Students love to talk about their art.  Encourage them to share their art more...

WHAT'S NEW ONLINE AT ART IN ACTION?

Art shows celebrate student creativity and bring your school community together. See what other schools have found to be successful for juried art shows. You can get suggestions for how to present a successful show on the Art in Action website (accessible to licensed schools). How do you plan a juried art show? What are the benefits to students? What are the easiest and best ways to mount and display art? Art in Action continually updates and adds information to the website. Look for new Lesson Descriptions and Take Home pages to send to parents, and see the Key Concepts and brief project directions on the lesson pages for every lesson.
