Dear ISD Parents/Guardians,
The weeks are winding down but the activity keeps going. The weather held out for the beach picnic at Tod's Point last Sunday and a good time was had by all. Thank you to the planners and donors who helped make it a successful event.
On Tuesday, the staff and I had the opportunity to meet our future kindergartners who spent some time in the afternoon in a kindergarten classroom. It is always exciting for all of us to meet the next group of ISD students and begin to get to know them and their families. Of course, we are thrilled to see many of our current students' siblings who are taking the big step and joining us.
Wednesday was the big trip to Philadelphia for our 5th graders. They left early in the morning and returned in the early evening. They had a great time and our teachers reported it was a very successful learning experience as it tied into the content of their curriculum perfectly. On Monday, June 13th, they will take a short bus ride to Eastern Middle School to spend the afternoon there as another step in the transition process. The students will not only get to tour the building and specifically, the area they will spend the most time in, but also ask questions. Just a reminder that the Moving Up Ceremony for our 5th graders is Friday, June 17th at 1:00. Students are restricted to three guests and doors will open at 12:30 to allow family members into the Learning Commons.
Thursday, June 16th is our Volunteer Breakfast when it is our turn to thank all of you and show our appreciation for your support and time in everything you did for us this year. The breakfast is open to anyone who contributed to the school in any way. Please join us at 8:00 am to start your day with us.
Lastly, we had a wonderful Field Day on Thursday and the weather was perfect. There was a lot of excitement and energy and everyone seemed to have fun. For many students (and staff), it is their favorite day of the year!

HELP REVITALIZE THE ISD CHILDREN'S GARDEN!
|
This year the ISD Green Chair and Committee are working to revitalize the ISD Children's Garden. The garden has the potential to be a learning space for our children, an area where birds and insects can thrive, and a place our school community can gather and create memories while spending time together in the outdoors.
This spring a small group of Afters students weeded, planted, and cared for this emerging space.
We need a few families to volunteer to maintain it over the summer. Our goal is that each week, one or two families sign up to help maintain the garden for one week during the summer--this includes weeding, watering, harvesting and general maintenance of the garden.
New to gardening? Not sure if you want to get dirty?
FEAR NOT!!! Each week a Garden Committee member will be there on your first day and help show you what you need to do. We will provide all the tools that you may need including gloves!
When there are things to harvest during that week your family will be welcome to take those veggies home as a thank you for your efforts!
If you have any questions please contact ISD Green Chair, Angie Hartofilis.

THANK YOU!

The annual ISD Beach Party was a tremendous success thanks to our amazing Beach Party Committee, countless volunteers, generous donors, and supportive school community who attended the event despite the rain. We can't thank you enough for all of your efforts!
