PRINCIPAL'S LETTER
|
Dear ISD Parent and Guardians,
Congratulations to our student musicians and their teachers who performed in our Spring concert this week. They were absolutely wonderful! Congratulations to Ms. Allocca, Dr. Heikel and Mr. Marrone for their outstanding guidance and instruction. Thank you to all of you as well for supporting our arts in education programs.
As you may have heard, Dr. McKersie has put forth three recommendations regarding school start time. Future discussion will center around these three options with a vote to take place in the near future. Please be informed and get involved with ongoing discussions so everyone's voice can be heard.
Just a reminder that Field Day is scheduled for Thursday, June 9th with a rain date to follow on Friday, June 10th. There will be more details forthcoming in the future by Mr. Boland, but we are following a similar schedule as we have done in the past. We start with an all school launching ceremony in the front of the school around 9:00. After the ceremony, students in grades K-2 will proceed to the field for a variety of activities and races. At around 11:30, all students and staff will convene on the field for a picnic lunch. The afternoon session for students in grades 3-5 will begin at around 12:30 for their races. The day will culminate with a closing ceremony at around 2:45. If you ask students, it is the best day of the year for them. It truly is a fun day and I hope you will be able to join us, if not for the whole day, for a part of it.
School ends on Tuesday, June 21st, and it is an early dismissal day. The teachers finish the next day, June 22nd. Starting June 23rd, an extensive project involving our heating and cooling systems will begin and continue until right before the new school year is to begin. I will share more details as they become available but I am expecting a busy summer with lots of "construction-like" work going on.
Sincerely,
Terry Ricci
