FROM THE ART ROOM
Dear Parents,

Happy Spring! Hopefully it is here at last.  Here is what's going on in the Art Room:

Kindergarten students are continuing to work on their animal and weather artwork.

First graders have been revisiting lines, and how different lines can be used in unusual ways to create shapes in drawing. They have also been exploring how to create areas of light and dark with colors.

Second graders are beginning an exploration on clay vessels. In an effort to tie into the Second Grade IB Unit: A Flavor Of Cultures, we have been discussing the kinds of vessels used in different cultures and why. This will culminate in the creation of 3D vessels in clay.

Third graders are working with clay and learning the techniques of pinch pot and coil building. They have designed, and are currently creating their own pinch pot creatures out of clay, using hand building techniques.

Fourth graders are working on the creation of Pop Art-inspired sculptures out of clay.

Fifth graders are finalizing their Dream Houses in watercolor and colored pencil. And here's a photo of the Fifth graders' field trip to the Aldrich Museum in Ridgefield...an amazing experience!

Please save the date for the First Grade Art Show at the Cos Cob Library. Opening night is Monday, May 9th. More details to follow.

I am in need of parent volunteers to help with the Art Show preparations. It is a great opportunity to come into the Art Room and get a sneak peek at what they have been working on! If you are interested please contact me at ferris_buddy@greenwich.k12.ct.us as soon as possible.

As always thank you for your interest and support. I wish everyone a happy Spring and a wonderful Spring vacation!

All The Best,

Mrs. Buddy
