Dear ISD Parents and Guardians,
Except for our kindergartners, all of our students have received their IPads, participated in digital citizenship "boot camp" and are beginning to use the devices in class. Currently, the devices are not allowed to go home yet with our gr. 2 - 5 students until programming, including app installation, is completed by central office. All Apple account passwords are in place. Several passwords needed to be reassigned by the project administrators because they did not align with the password requirements. If that was the case with your child's password, please do not change it.
The password process is now beginning for our kindergartners. Parents, please view the video on our school's website before establishing your kindergartner's Apple password. We have learned from the process we went through with the older students that the video is very helpful in acquiring an appropriate password. If after viewing the video, you have difficulties, please contact the school for support.
Two of our teachers, Ms. Sangermano (gr. 3) and Mrs. Bucknoff (ESL) are ready to launch ISD's Newspaper Club. There are three sessions planned for this school year. Session 1 will begin in early November and is open to students in grades four and five. Information went home this week. Sessions 2 and 3 will expand to students in grades three, four and five. Each session will culminate in the publication of an ISD newspaper. Artwork and writing from students in kindergarten through grade two will be solicited for inclusion into the publications.
This past Wednesday was our second early release afternoon dedicated to professional learning. Most of the teachers remained here in our building to participate in a webinar training on a program called, LightSail. LightSail is a computerized library that students will be able to access in the near future under a teacher's guidance.
Veteran's Day is approaching and we would like to have veterans within our school community participate in our ceremony that will be held on November 11th. If you or a family member is a veteran, please contact Mr. Matejek, ISD's Assistant Principal, at eugene_matejek@greenwich.k12.ct.us.
In closing, I want to thank Joanne Rosenthal and her cadre of volunteers who planned and executed a very successful Math Night for the ISD school community. We had about 150 students participate in math games that helped reinforce concepts and operations under the watchful eye of some of our teachers who helped facilitate the activities.
Sincerely,
Terry Ricci
ISD Principal

| IT'S BOX TOP SUBMISSION TIME! |
Our school will be sending in the Box Tops we've collected November 2. Our goal this school year is $800. If we reach our goal, the children will enjoy a school-wide reward! You can help us reach that goal by sending in your Box Tops right away!
Our house-shaped submission box is across from the office in the hallway or you can turn them in to your child's teacher.
Thanks for your help and keep on clipping!

The PTA is at an incredible 78% of its participation goal. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and your contributions directly fund PTA-sponsored enrichment programs and special events such as Monster Mash, Family Math Night, Authors Visits, Scholarships and Classical Cafe.
Please help us reach our goal of 100% participation by ISD families, and don't miss out on your last chance to win an ISD Swag Bag! The PTA will be holding our final membership raffle and the drawing will include all families and staff that have contributed since September.
Please complete an ISD PTA Membership Form and return it to the main office to enter our final drawing by 10/28. Families that contribute $20 or more receive a complimentary ISD school directory.
To all our generous donors: Thank you!!!
