Dear ISD Parents,

This week teachers received their IPad with the start of Phase 3 of the GPS Digital Plan.  Our Wednesday afternoon faculty meeting was dedicated to professional learning as related to the IPad and the district's goals for digital learning.  The meeting was organized with teachers being offered three options based on their level of expertise and knowledge in working with the device.  It was a positive launching as we embark on this new initiative.  Professional learning in the future will center around how our instructional program can be enhanced through the use of IPads in the classroom. In fact, the last two early release days scheduled for this school year are earmarked for digital learning.  Those dates are April 29th and May 20th.  A clear plan exists to be sure that teachers have a solid working knowledge of the IPad and its instructional impact before the next school year begins when all students will receive a device.  It is all very exciting!

Our fifth graders completed their Smarter Balanced Assessments this week.  The process went smoothly.  Our third and fourth graders will start their testing period after April break.  I can expect to receive results around July 1st for individual students, as well as for grade/group performances.

Congratulations to all of our student star performers who participated in our talent show last Friday evening. The students were very poised allowing their true talents to shine.  Thank you to Cindy Busani, who organized the event, with the support of other parents.  A good time was had by all.

I want to wish you Happy Easter or Happy Passover if you are celebrating those holidays this weekend.  Enjoy!

Sincerely,

Terry Ricci

AFTERS UPDATE

Dear Parents,

Welcome to the Spring Afters!  We are finally coming to the last session of this school year and it is beginning next week.  We truly hope you have enjoyed the Afters Program so far!  We are looking forward to finishing up with a big "BANG"!

The final class list is going home today, along with a Pledge of Good Citizenship that all Afters Students must sign and return on the first day of their classes. If you have signed up for more than one class, please just submit the pledge to the class that starts the earliest.  One form will be enough for the session.  Or, you can always drop in the front office.

Also, as a new feature of the Afters Registration Website, you may now log in your account to check the current program throughout the session, see what your children signed up for, or update/edit their profile.  All information regarding the calendar, such as the last dates of the classes or any make up notices will also be updated there as well.

Enjoy this beautiful Spring weather!  We can't wait to start next week!

Warmest regards,

Jackie Moy and Hina Sanghi
