A Message from the Principal ~
Dear ISD Parents,
Tuesday, November 11th is Veteran's Day and also a regular school day. We will honor the Veterans in a brief ceremony at 10:00 am to be followed with a small reception in the cafe. If you or a family member is a Veteran, please let us know ahead of time, as we would love to have you participate in our ceremony. Also, if possible, please have your children wear the patriotic colors of red, white and blue to honor our brave and courageous Veterans.
This past Tuesday, the teachers, assistants and I experienced a full day of professional learning. There was a menu of choices for us to choose from in the Eastern network of schools (ISD, OG, NM, Riverside). Classroom teachers spent the morning at a presentation given by Susan Brookhart who is a leader in the educational field on assessing student thinking. She has written over fifteen books covering this topic and others. Her work complements the work we are doing at ISD through our School Improvement Plan action plan on increasing the rigor and expectations we have for our students.
Teachers also attended sessions to learn about Google Docs and Schoology as part of their technology repertoire. This is critical learning as we prepare to implement Phase Three of the district's technology plan in the next school year. We have begun to set the foundation in preparation for our students receiving their device. (As of this date, no decisions have been made as to what device our students will receive but decisions will be made this coming winter.) Each elementary school has established a committee of teachers who will serve as "Early Adopters." This group will receive training during this school year to serve as "leaders" next school year as we implement and infuse digital learning into our instructional program. There will be a presentation on the topic of digital learning at our PTA meeting scheduled for Tues., Nov. 18th at 6:00 pm. Mr. Phil Dunn, Director of Digital Learning and Technology for the school district, is scheduled to speak. Please mark your calendars as it will be an informative meeting.
Sincerely,
Terry Ricci

| BRING IN YOUR BOX TOPS FOR EDUCATION |

1 Find Box Tops on hundreds of products.
2 Clip Box Tops from each package.
3 Send the Box Tops to your school properly clipped, in a Ziploc bag, with your child's name and class teacher clearly marked.
4 Box Tops are each worth 10˘ for your school.
Every dime counts for our school, so please bring them in, even if you just have a few! The Box Tops collection box is in the shape of a schoolhouse and is located in the main school corridor, opposite the Main Office. Please place the properly cut Box Tops in a sealed envelope or baggie with your child's name and class clearly written outside. (Please check expiration dates as expired Box Tops cannot be submitted.) The class that collects the most Box Tops by the end of February 2015 will be in store for a special class celebration!
Here are some examples of products that participate in Box Tops:
Hefty products, Kleenex, Mott's, Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, Progresso, Yoplait, and
