| FROM THE ISD NURSE |
Health screenings: Hearing and vision (grades 1, 4, and 5), and back screenings for scoliosis (grade 5 females only) will be starting on October 7.
3rd grade Town of Greenwich Physical Exam forms: Please submit as soon as your child's 3rd grade physical exam is done. Please don't forget to make copies for your own records.
Influenza, viruses and bacteria: Please continue to monitor your children for any colds and signs/symptoms of flu. If worsening then the doctor should be consulted. Any absences should be reported daily to the school attendance line or the school secretary with information about symptoms and if there's any fever present (the number of the fever taken with a thermometer). This will help me keep track of illnesses in the school. Encouraging good hand washing, covering up cough and sneezes, etc., go a long way in controlling the spread of diseases and viruses. Please reinforce these practices at home.
Lice: Please continue to check your children's heads on a routine basis. Your diligence has helped prevent this condition from getting out of control here at ISD. Please continue to let me know if your child has been treated for lice or nits. Read and follow the directions of the treatment used. Some remedies recommend repeat of the treatment after one week.
As always, thank you for your help and cooperation.

POSTER CONTEST!
|
The ISD café is proud to single steam recycle as many lunch items as possible. The children have received direction as to how they can recycle more than half of their lunch trays, wrappers, plastics, and foil.
To help continue this recycling effort the Green Committee would love for your children to participate in a poster contest. Posters can illustrate and talk about any aspect of recycling. An emphasis on recycling as it pertains to our café would be great!
Posters will be hung in the cafe at the end of the contest and a few small prizes will be given for some of the most informative ones. Looking forward to seeing many wonderful creative expressions!
Please submit your poster by October 20 to your teacher.
