Dear ISD Parents,
Although I wasn't able to attend Skate Night, it sounds like it was a big hit once again. Students were sharing a variety of stories about it on Monday morning. It sounds like the large group who turned out for the event had a grand time.
Skate Night was a great way to start Wellness Week at ISD. I am certain students came home sharing experiences of eating and maybe even trying a variety of fruits and vegetables, each day at lunch from a rainbow of colors. Students probably also shared the fun they had during our daily morning exercise routine. Each morning after morning announcements, the school engaged in an exercise segment delivered over the intercom that was created by Mr. Boland and carried out in the hallways with their teachers. Fun was had by all and hopefully, the message of how valuable (and fun) exercise can be will carry home. Also, the parents who attended the parent session on making healthier lunches by ISD parent, Teresa Fellows, found it to be extremely informative. It was obvious Mrs. Fellows has a wealth of knowledge about healthy eating and everyone left with new learning. Lastly, ISD parent Courtney Kane is offering a spinning class to the ISD community tomorrow morning (Saturday, March 15th, 10:00 at Sportsplex.) If you are interested, please email Mr. Boland at jeremy_boland@greenwich.k12.ct.us. Otherwise, just show up tomorrow morning. Thank you to all our parent volunteers who contributed to a successful Wellness Week. Our goal was to reinforce the message of how important it is for everyone to take control of their own wellness. It is never too early to communicate that to our students.
Next week our fifth graders will be taking the CMT Science test. It is the only test that we are continuing to take from the CMT battery. The test is scheduled for Thursday, March 20.
Traffic approaching school has increased in recent weeks for a variety of reasons. Please follow all traffic and driving rules to ensure safety for all. When dropping off in the morning, please make sure your child is ready to exit the car with their belongings as soon as you come to a full stop. Also, please consider making a right turn at the end of the circle, especially if there is a school bus waiting to turn left. If more people turn right, the traffic would flow more smoothly and minimize your time waiting.
Have a good week,
Terry Ricci
