Kickoff

Dear ISD Families,

The morning circle traffic appears to be improving ever so slightly.  The "traffic helpers" are moving cars up further into the circle to get more cars into the driveway.  Remember the driveway divides into two lanes at the end of the circle to allow cars to turn right or left.  If there is a bottleneck, please turn right and you can turn around at the cul de sac at the end of Florence Road.  This would help traffic flow immensely.  In addition, there are still many students who are eligible for bus transportation who continue to be dropped off. It would be worth your while to have them get ready for school a few minutes earlier and take the bus. Also please remember to have students ready to exit the cars from the right side instead of the left side, so as not to have them cross in front of oncoming traffic. Thank you for your consideration regarding this matter.

The PTA Afters program begins next week.  Please remind your children to attend their class on the day it is held so they do not miss it.  Remember classes end at 4:15.  The classes look exciting; I am certain they will enjoy them.  Thank you to the committee members who put the program together.

Thank you also to the parents who helped with the outdoor plantings and watering, which enhanced the appearance of our school in time for the opening of the new school year. Special thanks to student, Ian W., who dedicated his time and hard work to the project.  His efforts embody the IB commitment of "taking action".  Thank you Ian!

If you have not verified your residency at the Board of Education, please do so as soon as possible.  We still have about 50 families at ISD who have not done so.  The district's central office is asking all Principals to remind parents that this task needs to be done and that if you have any questions or need assistance, to please contact us.

Lastly, I want to remind parents of the Math Presentation to be held Wednesday, September 25th, at Old Greenwich School at 7 pm.  The presentation to be conducted by Ms. Irene Parisi, Assistant Superintendent, and the district's math coaches will present detailed information about the curriculum, as well as the materials used to deliver the instructional program. The presentation is open to parents of students who attend the Eastern Network schools (ISD, Riverside, North Mianus and OG).

Sincerely, Terry Ricci
