Dear ISD Families,

Please join the staff and me on Wednesday evening, September 11th for our annual Open House.  Teachers are preparing to bring you an informative evening that will help you support your child's education.  Below is the schedule for classroom visits, as well as a time period to visit the specialists.  Each classroom session will include a presentation that will include information related to the following areas:

  • The GPS curriculum, including the new Math Program
  • Common Core
  • IB Primary Years Program

  SCHEDULE:

  • 6:30 - 7:00    Principal Presentation - Café
  • 7:00 - 7:45    Classroom Visits for Grades 1, 3 and 5 and ALP Gr. 2 and Gr. 4
  • 7:15 - 8:15    Visits with Art, Music, Physical Education, ESL, Media, Reading, Psychologist, Spanish*, Resource Room, and Speech in their classrooms or offices
  • 8:00 - 8:45    Classroom Visits for Grades K, 2 and 4, ALP Gr. 3 and Gr. 5

We planned a staggered schedule for this evening to help families with children in multiple grades and provide you time to meet with support and special area teachers who are vital to the school's overall program.  Parking is a problem so the staggered schedule may help with that as well;  I would strongly urge carpooling or walking, if possible.

I look forward to seeing you on the 11th.

Sincerely, Terry Ricci

NEWS FROM THE ART ROOM

Dear Parents:

I hope to continue working with artsonia.com, the ISD school art museum website.  However, we need volunteers to edit and upload our ISD artist works into the museum this year.  Please email me if you can help approximately 1 1/2 or 2 hours per week with the editing or photography. Editing can be done at home after you receive 20 minutes of training with me. It is helpful to have 1 volunteer per grade level.

Please donate used tennis balls to the art room.

Thanks!

Melissa Verdier, art teacher
