Message from our Principal

Dear ISD Parents,

If you attended any of the group presentations from the Gr. 5 Exhibition, you know how hard our students, teachers and mentors have worked throughout this process. What was presented on stage was the culmination of researching topics, synthesizing new learning and finally, showcasing that new learning in a very public and creative manner. I am so proud of each and everyone of our fifth graders. Congratulations to them all!

Congratulations also go out to ISD parent, Stacy Loveless, who was nominated by our community for the Essence Award. This award is presented annually to a well-deserving school volunteer. Mrs. Loveless, a former ISD PTA Pres., was an ideal candidate given how much time and energy she gives to our staff and school.

Speaking of volunteers, this Wednesday, June 12, the staff and I are hosting our annual Volunteer Breakfast for everyone who has given of their time to helping our school in any way. It will be held in the café beginning at 8:15. Please try to come so we may honor you.

It has come to my attention that traffic has escalated, especially at dismissal time, primarily due to cars lining up on Florence Road to wait to enter the circle. This is causing a dangerous situation as the buses, which need to leave first, are needing to travel in the wrong lane as they circle around the waiting cars. Please refrain from this practice if you are one of these drivers. Either plan to arrive a few minutes later when the circle opens for cars or park your car and walk to wait in the front circle for your child. Please be mindful of everyone's safety.

In closing, I want to thank all who were involved with the annual beach picnic held last Saturday and those who also attended and participated in the auction and raffle. It was a great day in every way. As I have said many times in the past, all these wonderful events require time and cooperation from so many but they contribute significantly to enhancing the quality of a school's culture.

Sincerely,

Terry Ricci

SCHOOL SUPPLIES ORDERS FOR 2013-2014

The ISD PTA is again providing the opportunity to pre-order school supplies for the upcoming school year. Avoid shopping hassles, crowds, and guesswork.  Use the forms sent home in your child's folder or order online. The supplies will be waiting for your child in his/her classroom on the first day of school.

Order deadline is Friday, June 21.

Contact Patricia Carey with questions.

(If you choose not to use this service, you may purchase your own supplies, keeping as close to the list as possible.)

ORDER ISD PERFORMANCES ON DVD

Relive the moment. Share memories with friends and family members who could not be there. Wonderful keepsake to cherish for years to come!

SUMMER SKILL REVIEW BOOKS

You may order Summer Skill Review Books for math, language arts, keyboarding, Spanish, and French language skills. These are by no means required: however, you might wish to use them to maintain your child's skill in these areas over the summer. Since they are review material, you will want to order the book for the grade level your child is leaving. If you have questions about the appropriate level please ask your child's classroom teacher. Sample copies of the books as well as order forms are available in the office. Contact Emma Eschricht with questions.

CLASSICAL CAFE REMINDER

GREEN DRAGON
UPDATE

The picnic and grilling season are upon us. What better way to enjoy fresh air, beautiful surroundings, and the company of family and friends. When packing your picnic basket or cooler, take a moment to think green. Consider cloth napkins and table cloths and reusable containers and utensils. If you must use disposable items, try to choose those that can be recycled or come from renewable sources.
