Message from our Principal

Dear ISD Parents,

On behalf of the staff and myself, I would like to thank you for the very special week we have experienced. The gifts and treats certainly made us feel appreciated but more important are the gratitude and appreciation you extend to us every day throughout the year. Students benefit most when home and school collaborate to maximize learning for every student.

Congratulations to our chorus members and Dr. Rogers for an outstanding concert on Wednesday evening. Working together with composer, Nick Page, who was sponsored by the PTA (thank you), they presented a fun, lively and interactive concert that everyone seemed to enjoy.

Speaking of the chorus, the district's Honor Choir, which includes many of our own chorus members, received high marks last weekend in a competition among school chorus groups from around the country. Congratulations to all of them for their hard work.

On Wed., 5/15, there is an early release day so students will be dismissed at 1:15. That afternoon, most of our teachers will begin their training of the new math units that will comprise our math curriculum. Training will also occur through the summer months as well, so as to prepare them for program implementation in the fall. The math text chosen to support the teaching of these units is called Math in Focus. It will be the primary resource for the teachers and students to use but other supplemental materials will also be utilized. Look for more details about our new math program in the future.

I want to remind you that if you have moved, changed your phone number or email, please contact the office immediately so we have up to date information. If you are planning to move out of town and your child will not be returning to ISD, please send me an email notifying me as such. Also, if you are interested in writing a letter regarding class placement, please refer to my original letter and note the due date is May 17th. Please be mindful that the information in your letters is considered in the process, along with the other information we already have on our students. Our goal is to create three classes, as evenly as possible. If you have any questions, please contact me.

Lastly, I wish all of you a happy Mother's Day! It's a great day to take stock of the important people in our lives and show our gratitude.

Sincerely,

Terry Ricci

 GREEN DRAGON
UPDATE

In the United States, 4 billion drink boxes are consumed every year. These drink boxes can take 300 years to break down. If you drink juice on the go, consider buying a large container and pouring some into a reusable bottle instead. And if you need to use a drink box, don't forget to recycle it.
