Dear ISD Parents,

Please be sure to read the Parent Link email I will be sending to all of you regarding security changes at our school. These changes will be implemented after the February break. I wish all of you a safe and fun winter break.

Upon our return, we have "Mr. D" working with our students in grades 3, 4 and 5. Mr. D is a writing consultant who has worked with our students in the past, courtesy of the PTA, (thank you PTA). He has a unique style in reinforcing the writing methods and strategies our students are instructed in throughout the year. He had been scheduled to work with our students for a week earlier in the year but was pre-empted by Hurricane Sandy.

Looking ahead to Tuesday, February 26th, we have scheduled the 2013-14 Kindergarten Orientation at 9:15 that morning. If you have a child who will enter kindergarten in the fall, you will receive a letter inviting you to the orientation meeting. If you are a magnet family and have an incoming kindergartner, please fill out an application which is available on line on the GPS website. Remember siblings have first priority in the lottery process who we have been able to accommodate. Applications for siblings or for anyone interested in applying to our school must be received by March 1st. If you know of someone who has recently moved into our attendance area and has a kindergarten age child, please have them contact the school office.
