HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF EFFORT
LAST DAY FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 30

The ISD PTA would like to help our community during

this time of need resulting from super-storm Sandy.

Neighbor to Neighbor, right in our back yard, is providing us a channel to collect items, and through their network of charitable organizations reach the NY/NJ areas which desperately need help.

We will be collecting at ISD starting:

Thursday, November 15 - Friday, November 30

Blankets & Winter Coats are top on the list of needs!

Please find a few minutes during the day, weekend or over the Thanksgiving Holiday to make a contribution!

Collection table will be located across from the main office next to the mural.

For questions, please contact the Outreach Committee, Maria Merrill mariamerrill@optonline.net

Together we can make a difference!

Please complete the membership form with a minimum donation of $15 to receive a directory and support the ISD PTA. Thank you to the 70% of ISD families that have already contributed to the PTA. Please help us reach our goal of 100% participation.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

We are asking for your support for a former ISD family currently at Eastern Middle School who is going through a difficult time. The mother is undergoing cancer treatment. One way that we can come together to support this family is to provide meals and groceries. Please see the attached link if you would like to sign up to help.

Our hearts and prayers are with Nicole Graham and her family as she undergoes treatment for Leukemia. Nicole is a Junior at GHS and a former ISD student. In a show of support from our caring community, we will be collecting restaurant gift card/certificate of any denomination in an envelope with your child for our collection basket in the office.  If you have any questions please contact Stacy Loveless.

Welcome to The Green Dragon

Not sure if it is better to wrap your Thanksgiving Leftovers in aluminum foil or plastic wrap?

If you don't have a reusable container, choose the aluminum foil.  Even though aluminum mining and
refining requires lost of energy and releases greenhouse gases, aluminum foil is a bit better because it can usually be recycled.  Plastic wrap usually can't be recycled and some of it is still made with PVC, a plastic that has potentially hazardous chemicals.
Gobble! Gobble!
Happy Thanksgiving!
