ISD Candy Drive (last day)

Dear ISD Parents and Guardians,

Next week the writing consultant, "Mr. D.", will be here to work with our students in grades 3, 4 and 5.  He has been at ISD many times, courtesy of the PTA, and leaves having made a big impression on students and their writing skills.  His approach supports and is consistent with the model our own teachers use in the teaching of writing but delivers it in a different style. While he is here, they will have homework related to the work he does with them in class. You may want to ask your child about their experience with him.

It is with mixed emotion that I share the news that Mrs. Miloro is leaving ISD as a result of a promotion.  She will be the Administrative Assistant 1 at Hamilton Avenue School.  Her last day at ISD is Monday, Nov. 5th.  Mrs. Miloro helped establish our office when we opened in 2000 and has been a valuable resource for many years.  We will miss her and wish her well in her new position.

Thank you to everyone who has worked on Monster Mash.  I am certain it will be a big success.

With the possibility of Hurricane Sandy on the horizon, please be mindful of safety measures and precautions.  Certainly if anything arises while school is in session, I will be in touch immediately.
Sincerely, Terry Ricci

BOXTOPS FOR EDUCATION

It is that time of year again to collect and bring in the "Box Tops for Education" coupons.

Every dime counts, so please bring them in, even if you just have a few. There is a special collections box, in the shape of a schoolhouse, in the corridor, outside the Main office. Please place the properly cut Box Tops in a sealed envelope or baggie with your child's name and class clearly written outside.

The class which collects the most Box Tops by the end of February 2013 will be in store for a special class celebration.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

We are asking for your support for a former ISD family currently at Eastern Middle School who is going through a difficult time. The mother is undergoing cancer treatment. One way that we can come together to support this family is to provide meals and groceries. Please see the attached link if you would like to sign up to help.
