From the Executive Director
Greetings!
In September, we were fortunate to have two of our Chamber members host a Business-After-Hours gathering.
On September 23, the Rotary Club of Chestertown invited everyone to join them at the Lelia Hynson Pavilion along the banks of the Chester River. What a spectacular venue!
At least 40 people gathered on a beautiful fall evening to enjoy fabulous food provided by Chamber member Luisa's Cucino Italiano and refreshments courtesy of the Rotary Club. We were able to hear about the latest projects the Rotary is working on and background on the club itself. Thanks to all the Rotarians for a great evening!
I also want to thank our Silver Sponsor Washington College and the College's 28th president Sheila C. Bair and her staff for hosting our Business-After-Hours on September 30th in the College's beautiful Visitors' Center. It was a very nice affair with an impressive turn-out to meet the new president. I also witnessed quite a bit of productive networking going on throughout the evening. If you missed the opportunity to attend this event, please consider joining us for some of our upcoming events. Again, a big thank you to Washington College and a warm welcome to Sheila Bair!
Please be sure to join us for our October Business-After-Hours hosted by the Easter Seals Camp Fairlee on Thursday, October 22 from 5:30 - 7:30 P.M. at 22242 Bay Shore Road in Chestertown. Camp Fairlee is celebrating 61 years of service in Kent County. There will be food and drink along with tours of the brand new facilities at the Camp and the historic Manor House circa 1820's. For more information and to RSVP, please see the flyer later in this newsletter.
On Thursday, November 5, Crow Vineyard & Winery will be hosting a Business-After-Hours from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the winery at 12441 Vansants Corner Road in Kennedyville. You will have the opportunity to meet the faces behind Crow Farm, Vineyard & Winery, sample Crow Angus grass-fed beef chili and stew and tour the winery. Please see the flyer later in this newsletter for additional information.
On Thursday, November 19, Champion Realty will be welcoming everyone to their new location at 210 S. Cross Street in downtown Chestertown. In addition to their Grand Opening, they will be collecting canned goods to be donated to the Community Food Pantry. This annual effort by Patsy Whiteley and her associates has always been well-supported by the Chamber community, so please come out and show your support again this year and help out those less fortunate than you.
Lastly, the holidays will be upon us before you know it. We will be hosting a Holiday Gala in December and our annual Excellence in Business Awards in January. Look for details of both of these events along with nomination ballots for the Business Awards, coming to your mailbox soon.

If you have not attended one of these functions in awhile ...or never, these are great opportunities to come out and network and support our local businesses. So if you're looking to get your business name out there and meet some fellow Chamber members, please be sure to join us and don't forget your business cards!
As always, thank you for your support of the Kent County Chamber of Commerce.
