DCVB Partner Newsletter

This week I am in New Orleans as the first endeavor with our joint marketing partnership with the Green Bay CVB. We have a booth at IPW, the international travel show. We have 47 appointments spanning 3 days. Green Bay told me in the past years many of the appointments coming to their booth asked how far Door County was from Green Bay. This will give us a great opportunity to see how valuable this show could be for Door County.

Big thanks to Phil Berndt on our team who set up two J-1 Visa Social Security Card Sign-up Days with the Social Security Administration to accept card applications here in Door County. In years past each employer needed to travel to Green Bay with their J-1 students (without an appointment) to apply. Our Sign-up Days save our employers hundreds of hour and thousands of miles by cutting out the unnecessary travel. On Tuesday June 14, they accepted applications from 117 students and expect to register another 100 or more on June 28 at the Ephraim Village Hall.  If your J-1 student needs to apply for their Social Security Card, contact Phil Berndt at phil@doorcounty.com to request an appointment on the 28th. Only a few afternoon appointments are still available.  (Click HERE for SS Application Forms and Information.)

We have a new employee scheduled to start at the DCVB on June 20. Jen Rogers has been hired as the Communication & PR Manager. Jen will be working with Jon Jarosh in his department. When I joined the DCVB 9 years ago this October, there were 12 full time employees and two summer part time employees. Today, including myself we have 13 full time employees and one summer part time employee. We have a great team that is cross trained and ready to do whatever is necessary to get the job done. I am excited to welcome Jen to the Bureau.

If you haven't dropped off your rack cards for this season, please do so as quickly as you can. The lobby gets busier each week and we can't give you the great exposure of a lobby presence unless we have your rack card. This benefit is included in your bureau membership.

On June 15, the senior staff met to do a partner review. This is where we sit and talk about the external partners we hire to help us market Door County on your behalf. As a part of this conversation we started talking about all the "new" businesses, expansions, and product that is happening around the county. WOW! This place is rockin'. I would like to thank all of you for giving us a great product to market to our audience.

Best Regards,
