I have a couple of items for you to put on your calendar this week. Please take a moment and put these two events on your calendar today.
National Travel and Tourism Week will be May 1-7, 2016. The DCVB will hold the Tourism Week Breakfast on Tuesday May 3rd. We are still working on the details so place, time, speaker, etc., will be coming soon to you.
The Door County Tourism Education Summit will be making a return in April this year. We have confirmed the date of April 6, 2016 for a day long summit on tourism and marketing trends at the Stone Harbor Resort. (Click HERE to Save the Date to your calendar) We are separating the summit from National Tour and Travel week because so many people felt a bit earlier in the year would work better for them. We are starting to put together the breakout sessions and how the day will lay out. If you have a specific topic you would like us to look at including and its feasible, we will see what we can do.
It looks as though we will get a bit more snow to add to the base for our winter outdoor activities. If you are shoveling, please stay safe and take frequent breaks.
Best Regards,
Jack Moneypenny, President/CEO

COUNTERFEIT BILLS discovered in Sturgeon Bay this Week!
Counterfeit $100.00 bills have been discovered in Sturgeon Bay this week. Pay close attention to all currency: counterfeit $20.00, $50.00 and $100.00 bills are appearing in Northeast Wisconsin. They appear to be $20, $50 or $100 bills copied onto washed one dollar bills. The bill tests good with a counterfeit pen, but may not pass a cash counter. The bills do not have a security thread, or portrait watermark. The 20, 50 or 100 on the front lower right does not change in light or during movement as it should (the shifting color ink). The paper feels very thin and waxy, as if it had been washed.
Two serial numbers that seem to be appearing on these bills are:
FK 16028402 B and AB 62479861 F
Please remain alert for these washed $20.00, $50.00, and $100.00 bills that are showing up frequently in Door County, Green Bay and the Valley. (Our thanks to Baylake Bank for sharing this important update with us!)
Strength in Numbers
It is our collective efforts to promote Door County that make us so effective so, as you make new friends in our business community, please let them know how important their support really is. You just never know what is going to tip the scales in our favor when someone is deciding where their next trip is going to take them - and it could be one little thing about that business that gets them up here - and into YOUR business while they are HERE!
For everyone's convenience, membership information and applications are available on our members site at: members.doorcounty.com or by giving us a call or sending an email:
Ideally, offer to have us reach out to them - and then let us know who we should contact.
Please know we will NEVER pounce on anyone or make them feel pressured - we're here to help.
