NHA Receives a Grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund
|
The Nantucket Historical Association received a matching grant of $86,000 from the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund to replace the slate roof on the Foulger Museum, an important component of the Whaling Museum complex, and to upgrade the audio-video systems in the flagship Whaling Museum.
The Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund, a state-initiative administered through the Massachusetts Cultural Council and its partner, MassDevelopment, fosters the growth of the creative economy by supporting building projects in the nonprofit arts, humanities, and sciences.
The Fund was created as part of a major economic stimulus bill that was approved by the Massachusetts Legislature in July 2006.
The goal of the Cultural Facilities Fund is to increase investments from both the public sector and the private sector to support the sound planning and development of cultural facilities in Massachusetts.
The Fund offers Capital Grants to help nonprofit cultural organizations plan for, renovate, expand, and repair their facilities, and to increase contributions from private funding sources. All grant awards from the Fund must be matched with cash contributions from the private or public sector.
The matching grant through the Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund will help the NHA fund critical facility improvements to the Whaling Museum complex, and to continue to provide an exceptional visitor experience.
