East End EBMUD Project Update
| |
As part of their work for the new Diablo Vista Pumping Plant on the corner of Mt. Diablo Blvd. and Mt. Diablo Ct., EBMUD will be performing work at two locations within the westbound travel lanes of Mt. Diablo Blvd. between Mt. Diablo Ct. and Carol Ln. this week. Westbound Mt. Diablo Blvd. traffic will be re-routed to the left lane on the south side of the road (eastbound direction). This shift will occur at Mt. Diablo Ct. and traffic will shift back to the north side of the road just west of the Lafayette Park Hotel, before Carol Ln. This will result in one travel lane in each direction on the southbound side of Mt. Diablo Blvd. Traffic control flaggers will be guiding vehicles through the intersections at the hotel, as well as helping vehicles enter and exit the hotel, and at Mt. Diablo Ct. The traffic signals at the Hotel will be covered during working hours to avoid confusion for drivers. Vehicles leaving the cemetery will only be allowed to make right turns onto Mt. Diablo Blvd.
Expect delays and allow extra time for your trips. The speed limit is 25 MPH. Please slow down. Work hours are 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM M-F. For more information about this project click here.

Show a little love to our neighbors in Moraga ...
| | As I know you are aware, our Sink Hole has qualified for emergency funding from the State of California. Although this is very good news, the fact remains that this will be a very long restorative process. The Rheem Blvd. traffic has been diverted through both the Rheem and 24 Hour shopping centers which in itself is a challenge. Our biggest concern is for the businesses that border the hole and construction area. For the most part they are small, privately owned businesses and quite frankly they are taking a big hit with this interruption in everyday business. Chef Chao, who have had their restaurant doors open for over 40 years, has had to close on a couple of evenings as there just were no customers. These businesses include: The New Rheem Theatre, Rheem Valley Pet Shoppe, Subway, Nation's, Ristorante Amoroma, Ariel, China Moon, Graze Food Bar, Home/made Kitchen as well as Chef Chao. The Lamorinda area is really one community. I think we all work hard to support each other and we are all in this together. I am hoping that you could ask your members as well as members of the community at large, that over the next couple of weeks and months, to consider doing some shopping or dining at the Rheem Center and help these small business owners during this difficult time. As always, I thank you for your energy and support of our entire business communities. Regards, Kathe Nelson Executive Director, Moraga Chamber
