EBMUD Lafayette Project Begins -Potential Dangerous Street Conditions
EBMUD's Diablo Vista Pumping Plant, located at 3305 Mt. Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette has reached the end of its useful life. This critical facility serves the communities of Lafayette, Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek. EBMUD will construct a new pumping plant at the southwest corner of Mt. Diablo Blvd. and Mt. Diablo Court. To connect the new facility to the existing water distribution system, a 30-inch diameter water pipeline will be installed on the north side of Mt. Diablo Blvd. Once the new pumping plant has been constructed and tested, the existing pumping plant will be demolished and turned into a city/public parking lot.
Work began over the holidays and there is now a fence surrounding the new site at Mt. Diablo Blvd. and Mt. Diablo Court. This poses a potentially dangerous situation as the "sight line" for drivers traveling in the North and East directions has been compromised. EBMUD is addressing this concern. When driving through the East end of town, please slow down. If you have question or concerns about the project, please contact Michelle Blackwell Community Affairs EBMUD, at (510) 287 2053, mblackwe@ebmud.com.

Work was scheduled to begin after the holidays to complete the new water main project on Lafayette Circle between Mt. Diablo Blvd. and Hough has been delayed. We will keep you posted on new developments. To learn more about these projects go to www.ebmud.com. Select Construction in my neighborhood and scroll down to Lafayette to select the project

Lafayette's "Shop Local" Gift Card Program to be Discontinued
Two years ago, more than 40 local businesses joined the chamber to offer a "gift card" that could be used only here in Lafayette. It was designed to encourage people to TRY LAFAYETTE FIRST. Recently the bank that issued the cards was sold to another bank. This made the cards that had been issued obsolete. Those who purchased cards were sent replacements and they should still be honored by the participating businesses. However, for all the customers who bought the cards at the chamber office, there was no way to identify who needed replacement cards. The Chamber does have a list of all the outstanding cards and will be happy to reimburse anyone holding those cards. We deeply sorry for the inconvenience of this.
