January 9 - Crab Feed

January 12 - Lafayette Gallery presents "12x12" Exhibit
The Lafayette Gallery will be closed for renovations from December 24 through January 11. A new show titled "12x12" will open on the January 12. It will feature small works by member artists, all will be done in a 1-foot by 1-foot format. Gallery Hours will be 11-5 PM Tuesday-Saturday and 11-2 PM Sundays. Closed Mondays. January 12 - Pet Loss Support Group
Hospice of the East Bay has a Pet Loss Support Group on Tuesday, January 12 from 5:30-7:00pm. In a nurturing small group, you are encouraged to process natural feelings of grief resulting from the loss of a beloved animal. This is a drop-in group. No registration needed; just show up. January 13 - Moraga Art Gallery presents "Intercepting Light: The Mind's Eye" Exhibit
The Moraga Art Gallery kicks off the new year with an exhibit of eye-catching landscapes by photographer Wenda Pyman. The show's centerpiece, a standout image of sunrise in the Florida Keys, captures the timelessness of tide pools and ancient coral beds. The featured guest artist, Joan Ragno has mounted a colorful collection of garments in silk, wool, linen, and neoprene, some embellished with felt and tucking. The show, which includes paintings, ceramics, jewelry, and more by the gallery's fifteen member artists and several guest artists, runs from January 13th to March 19th. The public is invited to an opening reception on Saturday, January 16th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The gallery is located in the Rheem Shopping Center, at 522 Center Street, Moraga. January 14 - Understanding Grief Class
Hospice of the East Bay has an Understanding Grief Class on Thursday, January 14 from 6:00-8:00pm at 3470 Buskirk Avenue, Pleasant Hill.A class that discusses grief and its natural process, as well as the broad range of common grief reactions. This class is helpful for people who are recently bereaved, experiencing grief years after a death, or wanting to support a bereaved friend. Contact Christie Brown at 887-5678.

January 16 - Winter Pruning Class
Mt. Diablo Nursery & Garden is offering a free winter pruning class on Saturday, Janary 16 from 11am-1pm. Come learn from the best in the business as Garth Jacober shows you how to prune in the winter, for lush, green, beautifully flowering healthy plants in the Spring and Summer! January 17 - Push Concert benefiting Friends of Camp Concord & CASA of Contra Costa County
San Francisco news anchor Dan Ashley and PUSH, send audiences 'back to the future' with their energetic live show and classic-rock vibe at Mezzzanine, 444 Jessie St., San Francisco. Whether performing great original songs or covering blasts from the past, PUSH delivers CLASSIC ROCK with ORIGINAL ROLL! January 20 - "Events, Social Media & You" Workshop
Join us for our "Events, Social Media & You" Workshop on Wednesday, Jarnuary 20. Easy steps to use social media to get the most from 2016 events, whether you're a host, presenter, vendor or attendee. January 23 - Soroptimist 24-680 Crab Feed
The Soroptimist International of 24-680 is holding their Craf Feed on Saturday, January 23 - 5:30pm - at Shadelands Art Center, 111 N. Wiget Lane, Walnut Creek. Tickets are $55 and include all-you-can-eat crab, pasta, salad, bread and dessert plus a wine raffle and silent auction. For tickets or more information call 283-2279.

January 23 - Gold Coast Chamber Players presents Crime and Punishment
Although the connection between classical music and notorious crimes may seem obscure, Gold Coast Chamber Players' Crime and Punishment will expose the criminal lives of Bach, Gesualdo, and others. Soprano Christine Brandes will be highlighted in a program for strings, voice and harpsichord. The concert will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 7:30 PM (pre-concert talk at 7PM) at the Lafayette Library Community Hall, 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd. in Lafayette. January 29 - Business Persons of the Year Dinner Honoring Andy & Wendy Scheck
Join us on Friday, January 29 for our 2016 Business Persons of the Year Dinner honoring Andy & Wendy Scheck, owners of Lamorinda Weekly.
