A Note about our Friend Bennett Burke

Back in 1999, Jim Meyers and Bennett Burke opened Wine Thieves, one of the great retail stories in Lafayette. Eventually they opened stores in Clayton and Berkeley. Jim and Bennett became champions of our community, giving back in so many different ways. For the 10th anniversary, their celebration benefited LASF (now LPIE, Lafayette Partners In Education). Last month, just three weeks after being diagnosed with kidney cancer, Bennett Burke passed away. He was surrounded by his family in those final moments. With his passing came the expenses for his funeral. If you were a friend of Bennett's and would like to help out, the family set up a page at www.gofundme.com/bennettburke. We miss Bennett and wish his family our condolences.
