EBMUD Work on Lafayette Circle - Weekly Update

EBMUD Construction Project on Lafayette Circle
Work on Lafayette Circle continues with big delays on the horizon. The EBMUD crew has trenched and dropped new pipes for the replacement water main over the last two weeks. However, they have run into some issues that will cause a slow down or stop to the work. It seems that the stretch from 200-250 Lafayette Circle may have been Native American burial grounds. As the crew digs, they are finding what may be artifacts and bones that suggest activity years ago. This get complicated as geologists and tribal representatives will weigh in and decide how to proceed. So you may see EBMUD moving forward with the project, slow it down to assess or simply stop the project until a decision has been made. More to follow as information becomes available. This work is taking place along Lafayette Circle between Mt. Diablo Blvd. and Hough.

Tonight - Tuesday, October 6 - Downtown Creeks Workshop

Tonight - Tuesday, October 6 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Lafayette Veterans Memorial Center, the community will get its first opportunity to learn about the Lafayette Downtown Creeks Preservation, Restoration and Development Plan, and provide comments on opportunities and constraints that should be considered as the plan is prepared.  The Lafayette Downtown Creeks Plan will establish a long term vision for downtown creeks so they become more of an amenity for the area.  Please join the City Creeks Committee, City staff, the project consultant, and other members of the community at this public workshop for a brief presentation on what we have learned about existing conditions in the downtown creeks, followed by a community discussion on ways to preserve and celebrate our downtown creeks.  We need your input!
If you have questions about the Downtown Creeks Plan or event, please contact Steven Goetz, Senior Planner, at [email protected], or visit our website www.lovelafayette.org/creeksplan.

Message from Tom & Anchalee Karmonphet of Amarin Thai Restaurant

After nineteen years of being a part of this community, we are excited to announce that we will be retiring. Starting October 1st, we will be leaving Amarin Thai in the capable hands of our niece, owner of Grand Avenue Thai Cuisine in Oakland. We will miss seeing all of our friends from the restaurant, but we know that you will continue to receive excellent food and great service for many years to come!
