Now - October 3 - Orinda Starlight Village Players Present Pinocchio
Orinda Starlight Village Players present Pinocchio through October 3. Carved by a woodcarver named Geppetto in a small Italian village, Pinocchio is created as a wooden puppet, but dreams of becoming a real boy. Cal Shakes presents King Lear by William Shakespeare, directed by Amanda Dehnert through October 11. Now - November 7 - Town Hall Theater Gallery's exhibit Beyond the Brush
Town Hall Theater Gallery's exhibit Beyond the Brush run thru November 7. Beyond the Brush is a collective of East Bay women who gather each month to critique, share and support one another as they grow as artists. Gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 3-6pm and one hour before performances at Town Hall Theater. Town Hall Theater Gallery is located at 3535 School St.             
 
October 3 - 24 - Town Hall Theatre presents The Mystery of Edwin Drood
Town Hall Theatre presenta The Mystery of Edwin Drood a musical by Rupert Holmes from October 3 - 24. Town Hall Theatre transforms into London's Music Hall Royale for a night of music, murder, and comedy as Charles Dickens's great unfinished masterpiece, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, is brought to the stage. October 3 - 34th Annual Evening of Promise
Join us for the 34th Annual Evening of Promise to benefit CASA of Contra Costa County! The event, to be held on October 3 from 6 - 10pm at The Clubhouse at Boundary Oak in Walnut Creek, includes a reception with hors d'oeuvres, followed by dinner and a spectacular celebration including a live auction with Dan Ashley as the MC. Funds raised from the event will help us to continue to recruit, train and support advocate volunteers to serve foster children and youth in our county. The tickets are available here.

October 4 - Sustainable Sunday
Sustainable Lafayette's second annual fundraiser will be held on Sunday, October 4 from 2-5pm at Metro Lafayette, 3524 Mount Diablo Boulevard. Organic wines! October 5 - Lafayette Rotary Golf Classic
The annual Lafayette Rotary Golf Classic will be held Monday, October 5 at the Rossmoor Golf Course. Scramble Format. Registration fee includes golf, box lunch and dinner.  The golf classic is a fundraiser to support the Rotary Club's many community and international projects. October 5 - Hospice of the East Bay's Art & Wine 2015
Hospice of the East Bay & Creekside Grill invite you to participate in their second annual Art & Wine benefit on Monday, October 5 from 12:30pm - 4:00pm at the Rossmoor Event Center. Artists within the photography, ceramics, sculpture and lapidary mediums will exhibit their work, while vintners introduce and pour their wines in the Rossmoor Event Center. October 6 - Downtown Creeks Plan Community Workshop #1
The City of Lafayette will be holding the first Community Workshop regarding the Downtown Creeks Plan on Friday, October 9 from 7-9pm at the Lafayette Veterans Memorial Center located at 3780 Mt. October 10 - Lamorinda Arts Alliance Art Show and Sale
The Lamorinda Arts Alliance will have a one day art show and sale on Saturday, October 10 from 10am-4pm at the Lafayette Christian Church located at 584 Glenside Drive (at St. Mary's Road). October 11 - Fall Harvest Celebration
The Lafayette Community Garden and Outdoor Learning Center will hold its 4th Annual Fall Harvest Celebration on Sunday, October 18 from 11am-3pm. There will be garden tours, games, displays, refreshments, music, raffle, Native American dwelling and artifacts, scarecrown and apple doll marking. Free admission. October 11 - Unsung Heroes - The Story of America's Female Patriots
The documentary "Unsung Heroes" produced by Ron Howard will be shown on Sunday, October 11 at 1pm at the Student Performing Arts Center in Bentley School, 1000 Upper Happy Valley Road. The documentary describes the insirational stories of American female partriots. After the movie you will have a chance to meet local female heroes from our community. This is a free event sponsored by the Local DAR District IV Chapters.

October 17 - Notes4Hope Breast Cancer Prevention Concert

On Saturday, October 17th, Notes4Hope presents a benefit for breast cancer prevention at the Cal Shakes-Bruns Amphitheater in Orinda. VIP doors at 3:45, GA 4:30, show at 6:00 pm with artists from CD4HOPE (being released that evening), followed by the hilarious comedian Jake Johannsen. Headliner is LUCE. October 17 - Hearts for Hope Gala

On Saturday October 17 at 6:00 p.m., Youth Homes celebrates its 7th annual Hearts for Hope gala at the BlackHawk Auto Museum - 3700 Blackhawk Plaza Circle, Danville. This year's special event marks 50 years of providing excellent services to foster youth in the bay area. In the unique surrounding of rare and vintage automobiles, enjoy a champagne reception, gourmet dinner, dancing and fabulous auction and raffle items! October 18 - Hike for Shelter

Douglah Designs presents Hike for Shelter. This one day hiking event on Mount Diablo takes place on Sunday, October 18. Every year, this hike delivers a fun experience for all ages and fitness levels who unite for one day under a common desire to make a difference in their community. Participants can choose from 4 trail options starting at Macedo Ranch and ending with lunch. October 21 - Soroptimist International of 24-680 - "Look Beneath the Surface" Event

Soroptimist International of 24-680 holds the event "Look Beneath the Surface" on Wenesday, October 21 in Mullen Commons at St. John Vianney, 1650 Ygnacio Valley Road, Walnut Creek. The event will feature a Soroptimist video presented at the United Nations in April, a panel discussion on labor and sex trafficking, and what is being done on the local, state, and national levels to combat the world's oldest oppression. October 24 - Children's Book Festival

On Saturday, October 24 the Lafayette Library & Learning Center is holding a Children's Book Festival from 11:00am-2:00pm in the Community Hall. a fun-filled day with our friends and special guests author Gennifer Choldenko, author of Chasing Secrets. October 30 - Trick or Treat Street

For a fun, safe Halloween event, children and their parents are invited to Trick-or-Treat on Mt. Diablo Blvd. from Oak Hill Rd. to Dewing Ave. and in La Fiesta Square from 4:00-6:00pm on Friday, October 30, 2015. All participating businesses will displace a "Trick-or-Treat Poster" and balloons. Please come in costume to receive a special treat. Don't forget to bring a Trick-or-Treat bag.

October 30 - Gold Coast Chamber Players presents Prodigies

The Gold Coast Chamber Players present their second concert of the season - Prodigies - on Friday, October 30 at 7:30pm at the Community Hall of the Lafayette Library & Learning Center. The program includes Mozart: Quintet, k. 515 in C major for two violins, two violas & cello; Duo, KV 423 for violin and viola; and Mendelssohn: Quintet in B flat for two violins, two violas and cello. November 1 - Lafayette Community Foundation's Garage Tour

The Lafayette Community Foundation presents its Annual Garage Tour on November 1. The event starts at 12pm with live music, classic cars and food trucks.  The tour of custom garages goes from 1pm-4pm.
