Today's EBMUD Pipeline Project/Lafayette Circle
Update

The EBMUD crew will be working for the next three weeks up at Brook/Moraga Rd.  There will some traffic delays on Moraga Rd during this time.  They have consolidated all of their staging materials on Lafayette Circle and have made most of the on street parking available again.  Still no word on when they will continue work on Lafayette Circle (West) or when the new road will be paved on Lafayette Circle (East) and Hough.

Lamorinda Transit Study - Public Survey

The Cities of Lafayette, Orinda, and the Town of Moraga have been been working with County Connection, the local public transit provider, to investigate potential options to improve public transportation access for commuters, seniors, and those dropping off children at our local schools. We are seeking your comments and opinions on various concepts. The survey takes approximately 7-10 minutes to complete and you will be entered to win Starbucks or Amazon Gift Cards! LinkedIn continues to evolve - are you keeping pace? This workshop reviews platform updates and teaches simple steps to improve your online image using LinkedIn, as well as easy tips and tricks for leveraging this powerful online platform to generate and qualify leads, as well as encourage referrals to Strengthen Your Online Network.  Wednesday, June 17 at 8am. Wednesday, June 17 - Young Professionals Group meet at The Hideout Kitchen & Cafe

This month's Young Professionals Group meet-up is on Wednesday, June 17 at 6:00pm at The Hideout Kitchen & Cafe - an excellent new restaurant in Lafayette - to hang out with the Concord Young Professionals. The world is full of young professionals and even though we can't meet them all, we can meet a few. The Hideout Kitchen & Cafe is located at 3400 Mt Diablo Blvd.

The Entrepreneur's Club will be taking a "Road Trip" for their monthly meeting on Thursday, June 18 at 8:30am.  The meeting will take place at Merrill Gardens located at 1010 Second Street. Parking in available in the underground garage in the Retail parking spaces. This month's speaker is Grant Stubblefield of Neighborhood Computers. He will provide an open lecture and discussion about the best IT practices for your home or office computer regarding security, backup, and syncing.

Friday, June 19 - The Accents Rock the Plaza

Rock the Plaza continues on Friday, June 19 with The Accents. The show starts at 6:30pm and is free of charge. Look for the IzzyA's Frozen Ice Cream Custard Truck. Food and beverages will be available courtesy of the Lafayette Rotary Club, or you can pack a picnic. New Carts & Colors!

Republic Services (formerly Allied Waste) is starting to exchanging carts in Lamorinda and will continue to do so through the end of July!

You will receive new carts matching the sizes you currently have, but in new colors: black for landfill (trash), blue for recycle, and green for organics. The new carts are clearly labeled, and have pictures on the lid to show what types of material can go in the recycle and organics. Residential customers will be receiving more details in the mail. Accepting Applications for Leadership Contra Costa

The Walnut Creek Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau is now accepting applications for Leadership Contra Costa, a program designed for individuals who want to make a difference in the communities in which they live and work. Leadership Contra Costa prepares candidates for leadership roles by exposing them to critical issues, introducing them to many of the area's top leaders and helping them to build a meaningful network of peers. Topics include: Health and Aging; The Price of Justice; Business & the Economy; Environmental Concerns; Education; Technology and the Future; Government & Politics; and Housing and Transportation. With an alumni roster of close to 700 individuals, this program has proven to be an asset to the community and society.

June 23 at 12:00pm in the Chamber Conference room. We will discuss the Lafayette Plastic Bag Ban which goes into effect on July 1st. Please park on the street.
 
Wednesday, June 24 - Mixer at Bonehead's Texas BBQ

Join us for our monthly mixer at new restaurant Bonehead's Texas BBQ. It has been a long wait for Bonehead's to open and we can't wait to sample some of their food and welcome him into the community.  Boneheads is located at 3422 Mt. Diablo Blvd.

Monday, June 15 - All Day - Dine at Paxti's on Monday, June 15 and the LLLCF will receive 10% of their proceeds from the entire day! By enjoying breakfast, lunch and/or dinner at this popular Lafayette eatery, you'll help to support the Library. Paxti's is open all day, 7:00am - 10:00pm, and all sales - delivery, pick-up and in-house dining - apply. Already have your Monday meals planned? Wednesday, June 17 - Diablo Ballet Dance on Film Presents: Anchors Aweigh - 6:30 - 8:30PM -Community Hall. Anchors Aweigh is a 1945 American musical comedy directed by George Sidney starring Frank Sinatra, Kathryn Grayson, and Gene Kelly. In addition to Gene Kelly dancing with an animated Jerry the cartoon mouse, the movie features José Iturbi, Pamela Britton, Dean Stockwell, and Sharon McManus. It won an Academy Award for original music score. Diablo Ballet Artistic Director Lauren Jonas and dancer Edward Stegge will present fun facts about the film prior to the screening. Friday, June 19 - Award-winning Illustrator Rafael López visits the LLLC -   6:30 - 8:00PM - Community Hall. Kick-off our "Read to the Rhythm" Summer Reading Festival with special guest, award-winning artist Rafael López! Winner of many prestigious awards including the Pura Belpré Illustrator Award and the Américas Award for Illustration, Rafael will be sharing his latest book, Drum Dream Girl: How One Girl's Courage Changed Music. Hear how Lopez brought this story to life through his symbolic and vibrant paintings. See some of the original artwork and enjoy an interactive drawing demonstration. Copies of his books will be available for purchase and signing. This free event is brought to you courtesy of the Contra Costa County Library. Register here.
