Today's EBMUD Pipeline Project/Lafayette Circle Update
| |
Today- Monday, April 27 - EBMUD begins working on the portion of the water main from the creek crossing (next to The Cooperage and up to the Round Up) to Mt. Diablo Boulevard. This section of water main will very likely take two days to install due to the high concentration of utilities in the intersection with Mt. Diablo Boulevard. On Wednesday, April 29th EBMUD anticipates that they will begin excavating for the service transfers to the new main. In order to facilitate as quick a transfer process as possible, EBMUD anticipates that they will be excavating service connection points in the street and placing steel plates over these excavations beginning on Wednesday, April 29th. This work will be performed during the normal working hours with two way traffic control and flaggers. EBMUD has agreed to start service transfers to restaurants at 6:00 am with an anticipated reconnection time no later than 10:00 am beginning on Monday, May 4th. If all goes well, a number of the restaurants near La Fiesta Square will get their transfers to the new service on Monday, May 4 and Tuesday, May 5. Those businesses will be notified. The project team knows that the time leading up to Mother's Day weekend is critical to the restaurants and the retailers. During the week of May 4th, they will be chlorinating the new line.
