Having been temporarily closed by a February flood, the Moraga Art Gallery has re-opened with new show entitled "Transitions" featuring the one-of-a-kind, Asia-accented jewelry of Lafayette's own master jeweler K. de Groot, and a collection of Raku and pit-fired pottery by guest artist Mary Leigh Miller of Moraga. The 5th Annual Lafayette Community Music Festival will be held on Satruday, May 2 at Town Hall Theatre. On Sunday, May 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31 from 9am-11:30am join other local families for a fun, casual bike ride to Moraga Commons and back. The ride is recommended for 7 years and up but bring the little ones in a trailer or on your bike. They'll have fun playing at the Commons. We're usually back at Stanley by 11:15. Snacks and water are encouraged. Meet on the Lafayette-Moraga Trail at Stanley Middle School.

May 4 - 3rd Annual Friends of Hospice Rossmoor Walk

This 3rd Annual Friends of Hospice Rossmoor Walk fundraiser will take place on Monday, May 4 from 9am-11:30am. This easy half-hour walk begins and ends at Creekside Clubhouse. $15 Tax Deductible Entry Fee. One name per donation. For another $15 you can walk for a friend or in memory of a loved one. Diablo Ballet's 21st Season continues with Celebrated Masters May 8-9 at the Del Valle Theatre in Walnut Creek. The performances, which places the audience within close proximity of the stage, features live music and a lively, interactive Q&A with the dancers hosted by local celebrity moderators. The Lafayette Community Garden and Outdoor Learning Center's Wind Chime Workshop: Making Music for Your Garden takes place on Saturday, May 9 from 2:00 - 4:30 PM. Wind chimes can be made with an exciting mixture of elements. Google "wind chime images" for many fun and creative ideas. Bring recycled items like old keys and jewelry, drillable kitchen utensils, silverware, and garden knick-knacks. Use your imagination! May 11 - Concert at the Res
|
|
Lafayette Rotary's Annual FREE Concert at the Res will be held on Saturday, May 11 from 11am-3pm at the Lafayette Reservoir. You can pack a picnic and don't forget your beach chairs and blankets. The stage is adjacent to a shady picnic area, public restrooms and the children's playground. Once you have parked, walk East (to your left) towards the reservoir trail. The Stage is about 150 feet from the parking lot. A shuttle van will be used to pick up guests in the parking lot and drop them off at the trail entrance. A golf cart will be available to take those guests that need help up the hill to the new stage. Musicians and artists for this year's concert include Big Band of Rossmoor, Stanley Symphonic Band, Acalanes Jazz Ensemble, Bentley Jass Ensemble, Lamorinda Theatre Academy, Stevie Coyle Strings and special guests Oakland Westlake Midde School and Town Hall Troupe. There will be food & raffle tickets available to support Lafayette Schools & Rotary Projects.

This is the 21st Anniversary of Bike to Work Day which promotes bicycling as a green form of transportation that is healthy and fun. Use the Interactive Bike Mapper which is designed to find flat, safe and fast route anywhere in Contra Costa County. Lafayette Energizer Stations: Lafayette Plaza Park from 6:30am-8:30am and Lafayette-Moraga Trail at Reliez Station Rd. from 6:30am-9:00am and 4:00pm to 7:00pm. It's time for the community to initiate a discussion regarding what's next for Lafayette. The City wants to know what else is on your list. To collect the broadest range of opinions representing all of the community, they have put together several ways to share your thoughts:
1. Fill out the Vistas survey and mail it to the City 2. Go to www.lovelafayette.org and fill out the survey online. Click on the Hot Topics button on the homepage. 3. Send a letter or email that reflects your priorities to cityhall@lovelafayette.org 4. Attend a Community Conversation meeting in your neighborhood & make your voice know.

Join us for our 16th Annual Kitchen Tour on Saturday, May 16th from 10am to 3pm. This self-guided tour will feature six special Lafayette homes with beautifully designed classic, contemporary, transitional, traditional, and modern cottage kitchens, and a mid-century modern kitchen recently featured in Houzz "Kitchen of the Week." This year's tour benefits Ruby's Place, Boys & Girls Club of Diablo Valley, Las Trampas, Trinity Center Walnut Creek, and VESTIA. Each of these non-profit organizations provide exceptional support to children, families and seniors in Contra Costa and neighboring East Bay counties.Tour tickets are $40 ($35 tax deductible), with a box lunch available for $15. Hospice of the East Bay will transport their guests to a "Night in Paris" on Saturday, May 16 at the historic Diablo Country Club, in Danville. The evening will feature entertainment infused with Parisian charm, bountiful auction items and cuisine paired with wine provided by the acclaimed Reynolds Family Winery. This season finale showcases woodwind chamber music.
