Now - June 13 - Moraga Art Gallery's exhibit "Transitions"

Having been temporarily closed by a February flood, the Moraga Art Gallery has  re-opened with new show entitled "Transitions" featuring the one-of-a-kind, Asia-accented jewelry of Lafayette's own master jeweler K. de Groot, and a collection of Raku and pit-fired pottery by guest artist Mary Leigh Miller of Moraga. Thurday nights - Lafayette Thursday Night Fun Run

Every Thursday night at 6:00pm, Bay Sotheby's International Realty invites runners, walkers, triathletes and fitness enthusiasts of all size, shapes, ages, abilities, skills and speeds for a weekly gathering celebrating running, walking and fitness. April 29 & 30 and May 1 & 2 - Acalanes High School DramaDons present The Rimers of Eldritch
The Acalanes DramaDons present "The Rimers of Eldritch", directed by Ed Meehan. The highly imaginative and affecting drama, with a political bite, runs April 29 & 30 and May 1 & 2 at 7.00pm in the Acalanes Performing Arts Center Little Theatre. "The Rimers of Eldritch" was an off Broadway success by talented Lanford Wilson. Please join the DramaDons for a vibrant, thoughtful and suspenseful evening. Advance ticket sales available through the AHS Web store and on campus during lunch. May 1 - Art Show at Floret

May 2 - Go Ask a Flower
The Lafayette Library & Learning Center in partnership with Lafayette Community Garden and Outdoor Learning Center presents "Go Ask a Flower". Join Lafayette Library Children's Librarion, Miss Ginny, at the Lafayette Community Garden on Saturday, May 2 at 1pm for an hour of stories, discovery and crafts. May 2 - 5th Annual Lafayette Community Music Festival
The 5th Annual Lafayette Community Music Festival will be held on Satruday, May 2 at Town Hall Theatre. The festival includes Other People's Money - Unplugged; Mark Stanley; Pat Nevins; Kiki Stack; Clive Worsley; Mike Miller; Kymber Starmack; and special guests. May 2 - Pure Muir Gala
The Muir Heritage Land Trust will hold their 2015 "Pure Muir Gala" on Saturday, May 2 from 5-9pm at the John Muir National Historic Site, 4202 Alhambra Ave., Martinez. May 2 - June 6 - Jennifer Perlmutter Gallery presents Clay Jensen + Betty Friedman, "Bronze and Paper"
Jennifer Perlmutter Gallery, a contemporary art gallery in Lafayette, CA, is pleased to present a two-person exhibit of Bay Area artists Clay Jensen and Betty Friedman. This exhibit will feature Clay Jensen's new series of bronze plates and large vessels and Betty Friedman's new and completely unique works on paper.  The "Bronze and Paper" exhibit opens May 2nd and runs through June 6th, 2015, with an artist's reception on May 2nd, 6-8PM and Artists talk on May 12th, 6:30PM. May 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31 - Weekly Family Bike Ride
On Sunday, May 3, 10, 17, 24 & 31 from 9am-11:30am join other local families for a fun, casual bike ride to Moraga Commons and back. The ride is recommended for 7 years and up but bring the little ones in a trailer or on your bike. They'll have fun playing at the Commons. We're usually back at Stanley by 11:15. Snacks and water are encouraged. Meet on the Lafayette-Moraga Trail at Stanley Middle School.

May 4 - 3rd Annual Friends of Hospice Rossmoor Walk
This 3rd Annual Friends of Hospice Rossmoor Walk fundraiser will take place on Monday, May 4 from 9am-11:30am. This easy half-hour walk begins and ends at Creekside Clubhouse. $15 Tax Deductible Entry Fee. One name per donation. For another $15 you can walk for a friend or in memory of a loved one. May 5 - Lafayette Art Gallery's new exhibit "Spring It on Me!"
The Lafayette Art Gallery's new exhibit "Spring It on Me!" opens on Tuesday, May 5 with a free reception on Friday, May 8 from 5:30-7:30pm. In the spirit of Spring, the new exhibit offers unexpected new works of original art that will puts a little spring in your step! The gallery is located at The Forge, 3420 Mt. May 8 - 9 - Diablo Ballet Announces Celebrated Masters

Diablo Ballet's 21st Season continues with Celebrated Masters May 8-9 at the Del Valle Theatre in Walnut Creek. The performances, which places the audience within close proximity of the stage, features live music and a lively, interactive Q&A with the dancers hosted by local celebrity moderators. A reception with tasty dessert delicacies and Peet's Coffee is served with the opportunity for the audience members to get up close and personal with the artists. A wide range of both classical and contemporary works will be presented as part of the series. Del Valle Threatre is located at 1963 Tice Valley Blvd., Walnut Creek. May 9 - Moraga Community Faire

The 9th Annual Moraga Community Faire will be held on Saturday, May 9 from 11am-4pm at the Rheem Valley Shopping Center, Moraga. The Faire includes live music all day long; classic car show; local wines; art, crafts & jewelry; Moraga owned food trucks; and children's activities - climbing wall, carnival games, dunk tank, bounce house & monster coloring sheets. May 9 - Wind Chime Workshop: Making Music for Your Garden
The Lafayette Community Garden and Outdoor Learning Center's Wind Chime Workshop: Making Music for Your Garden takes place on Saturday, May 9 from 2:00 - 4:30 PM. Wind chimes can be made with an exciting mixture of elements. Google "wind chime images" for many fun and creative ideas. Bring recycled items like old keys and jewelry, drillable kitchen utensils, silverware, and garden knick-knacks. Use your imagination!  We will have filament, string, drills, other fasteners and materials for you to use. May 11 - Concert at the Res
Lafayette Rotary's Annual FREE Concert at the Res will be held on Saturday, May 11 from 11am-3pm at the Lafayette Reservoir. You can pack a picnic and don't forget your beach chairs and blankets.  The stage is adjacent to a shady picnic area, public restrooms and the children's playground. Once you have parked, walk East (to your left) towards the reservoir trail.  The Stage is about 150 feet from the parking lot.  A shuttle van will be used to pick up guests in the parking lot and drop them off at the trail entrance.  A golf cart will be available to take those guests that need help up the hill to the new stage. Musicians and artists for this year's concert include Big Band of Rossmoor, Stanley Symphonic Band, Acalanes Jazz Ensemble, Bentley Jass Ensemble, Lamorinda Theatre Academy, Stevie Coyle Strings and special guests Oakland Westlake Midde School and Town Hall Troupe. There will be food & raffle tickets available to support Lafayette Schools & Rotary Projects.
   
May 14 - Bike to Work Day
This is the 21st Anniversary of Bike to Work Day which promotes bicycling as a green form of transportation that is healthy and fun.   Use the Interactive Bike Mapper which is designed to find flat, safe and fast route anywhere in Contra Costa County. Lafayette Energizer Stations: Lafayette Plaza Park from 6:30am-8:30am and Lafayette-Moraga Trail at Reliez Station Rd. from 6:30am-9:00am and 4:00pm to 7:00pm. May 14 - Last Chance to Join the Community Conversation
It's time for the community to initiate a discussion regarding what's next for Lafayette. The City wants to know what else is on your list. To collect the broadest range of opinions representing all of the community, they have put together several ways to share your thoughts:

1. Fill out the Vistas survey and mail it to the City
2. Go to www.lovelafayette.org and fill out the survey online. Click on the Hot Topics button on the homepage.
3. Send a letter or email that reflects your priorities to cityhall@lovelafayette.org
4. Attend a Community Conversation meeting in your neighborhood & make your voice know.

May 16 - Lafayette Juniors 16th Annual Kitchen Tour
Join us for our 16th Annual Kitchen Tour on Saturday, May 16th from 10am to 3pm. This self-guided tour will feature six special Lafayette homes with beautifully designed classic, contemporary, transitional, traditional, and modern cottage kitchens, and a mid-century modern kitchen recently featured in Houzz "Kitchen of the Week." This year's tour benefits Ruby's Place, Boys & Girls Club of Diablo Valley, Las Trampas, Trinity Center Walnut Creek, and VESTIA. Each of these non-profit organizations provide exceptional support to children, families and seniors in Contra Costa and neighboring East Bay counties.Tour tickets are $40 ($35 tax deductible), with a box lunch available for $15. May 16 - "Night in Paris"
Hospice of the East Bay will transport their guests to a "Night in Paris" on Saturday, May 16 at the historic Diablo Country Club, in Danville. The evening will feature entertainment infused with Parisian charm, bountiful auction items and cuisine paired with wine provided by the acclaimed Reynolds Family Winery. Proceeds from the event support Hospice of the East Bay programs and services. For more information visit Celebration of Care.
May 17 - Gold Coast Chamber Players present Whirlwind
The Gold Coast Chamber Players present Whirlwind on Sunday, May 17 at 3pm (Pre-concert talk at 2:30pm) in the Community Hall of the Lafayette Library & Learning Center. This season finale showcases woodwind chamber music. The program includes Robert Schumann: Adagio and Allegro for horn and piano; August Klughardt: Schilflieder (Reed Songs), Op. 28 for oboe, viola and piano (5 Fantasy pieces after poems by Lenau); and Johann Nepomuk Hummel: Septet for horn, oboe, flute, viola, cello, bass and piano. May 17 - Wine Women & Shoes
Wine Women & Shoes will hold their event on Sunday, May 17 from 2pm-6pm at Pleasant Hill Community Center's Perera Pavilion. Sip fine wines from top vintners, savor delicious food bites, shop the latest in shoes & fashion accessories and bid on one-of-a-kind silent & live auction items while beneffiting Pleasant Hill Recreation & Park District and Monument Crisis Center. May 19 - 13th Annual Taste of Lafayette
There is no better way to experience Lafayette's Restaurant Row dining than with friends, family and neighbors - and that is exactly why "Taste of Lafayette" has become such a popular annual event. Tuesday, May 19 is our 13th Annual Taste of Lafayette. Over 25 restaurants participating, an exciting raffle and 7 new stops highlight the event. This event gives the chamber a chance to share our good fortune and the Lafayette Community Foundation raises money through the raffle to support their annual grant program that gives to local non-profits and local projects.  Register online - Early Bird ticket price - $45 through May 9th, $50 thereafter.

Social Media 101 with a Twist! Google yourself. Does your online image support your word of mouth referrals, or does it detract? In this workshop, we'll focus on must-do online steps (including social media) to help you align your online image with your true personal brand, even when people search for you on mobile devices. Wednesday, May 20 at 8am. May 27 - June 21 - Cal Shakes presents Twelfth Night
Cal Shakes Theater in Orinda presents William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night which runs from May 27 through June 21. Director Christopher Liam Moore (Cal Shakes' Lady Windermere's Fan) is renowned for being able to delve into comedy, romance, and language with humanity and Úlan. Now he's opening our season with Shakespeare's comic masterpiece of mistaken identity, in which shipwrecked twins navigate across a strange island to find love-and each other.
